UNEARTH A STORY - Summer Reading 2026
was such a wonderful learning experience...we had over 80 kids attend throughout the 7 weeks...with that being said it could not have happened without the amazing support from the community we live in so we feel it is important to thank some people and business...

Summer Reading 2026 End of the Year Party will be a Pool Party at Giles Country Club in Pearisburg!
Wednesday evening July 29th, from 6:30 - 8:30pm.
The pool has been reserved for our group so no charge to attend, if anyone would like to bring shared snacks, that would be great!!
Remember parents are required to stay with their children so bring your pool clothes and get in the water with them. Make those memories, take those pictures and share in the laughter and fun!!

We had some really great raffle prizes donated for the kids this year. Each day they came they filled out 4 tickets and put them in their choice of prizes. They also had extra chances to fill out tickets by doing activity sheets and reading logs.

Grateful to have the opportunity to work with these ladies for the summer reading program this year!
We have already began to make plans for next year! We are very open to suggestions, what you thought was good, what you think needed to be better, and how we can improve this program.

Summer Reading 2026 had their final week at the Peterstown Public Library today and what an excellent day it turned out to be!
Local Author Jennifer Copeland came and brought along her nephew, Bentley Weikle who was such a wonderful help. As Jennifer read her book Tigman Turtle The Missing Shell he held up a book and showed the kids the pictures. After a short question/answer session the kids went straight into creating their own Tigman Turtle out of Play-Doh.
This was such an amazing opportunity for everyone. Each child left with a personalized signed copy of the book courtesy of Pam Fleeman, your generosity is greatly appreciated, know that you made a difference in a lot of childrens lives today.
What an amazing opportunity it is for a child to have a signed copy of one of their earliest books.
Thank you Jennifer for spending your time with us today, we look forward to your additional books in the future.

Just a dump of photos from today's Summer Reading Program.
With the STEM Bus on site the kids were taking turns going from their activities to the bus and back. The toddlers had fun with chalk, the 5-8 year olds worked on making straw rockets and trying to launch them, and the Tweens and Teens painted the "gate"
And decorated it.
We are all very grateful for the help from the parents, this is such an amazing group of kids and we have truly appreciated the help.
Thanks to Barn Swallow Wedding and Event Venue for providing snacks for the day.

We are so excited to have local author Jennifer Copeland scheduled at Summer Reading on July 22, 2026.
Jennifer will be reading her book to the attendees and plans to make a craft with them also. If time permits she will have a short question and answer session, and will have autographed copies of her book on hand. How awesome is it for a child to have one of their first books autographed by the author, have the opportunity to hear it read and take one home to have on their bookshelf.
We are so grateful that Jennifer is able to take her time to be part of the Summer Reading Program this year.
