🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE: FEMA Disaster Recovery Center Closing 🚨

Please be aware that the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center will permanently close on Friday, August 21st, 2026.

If you still need in-person assistance please stop by before the deadline!

📍 Location: Littlefield Fire Department, 6200 W St, Alanson, MI 49706
🕒 Hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

UPDATE: Schedule Change for Emmet County FEMA Disaster Recovery Center

Effective today, August 5, the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center located at the Alanson Littlefield Fire Department is transitioning to a new operating schedule.

🕒 New Hours:
• Monday – Saturday: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
• Sunday: Closed

Federal specialists remain available on-site during these hours to assist residents with FEMA applications, hazard mitigation, and SBA disaster loans related to the April severe storms.

⚠️ FEMA Disaster Recovery Update for Emmet County Residents ⚠️

It’s been one month since the federal disaster declaration for the April severe storms and flooding. To date, Michiganders have received $12.3 million in federal assistance!

As we continue to rebuild, FEMA has shared 5 important reminders for those still navigating the recovery and application process, including tips on:
✅ Heating systems
✅ Wells & septic tanks
✅ Mold removal
✅ Applying for assistance even if repairs are already done!

Important Deadline: You must apply for FEMA assistance and SBA physical damage loans by August 31, 2026.

If you need in-person help, specialists are available face-to-face at the Alanson Fire Department Disaster Recovery Center.

Crooked River Lock Opens Today! 🌊🛶
Here's a look at the lock schedule for the season:
📅 Opening Day: Friday, June 26
⏰ June 26 – August 2: 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.
⏰ August 3 – September 7: 8 a.m. – 9 p.m.
⏰ September 8 – October 4: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

🍂 Fall Weekend Hours:
📍 Oct 10–11 & Oct 17–18: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Sat & Sun only)

While water levels are elevated, we will keep the lock gates wide open as lockages are not yet needed. Lock staff will be on traffic control, directing vessels from both upstream and downstream using the red and green traffic signals. Boaters should only proceed through the lock on a green light.

We will not be collecting lock fees until lockages are needed. Happy floating! ☀️🚤
