The City of Petoskey Public Art Commission is pleased to announce the installation of the Wheelway Art Walk, a series of vibrant new public murals along the Little Traverse Wheelway, near Bayfront Park.

The project features 20 original 4-by-4-foot paintings created by artists with ties to Emmet and Charlevoix Counties. The artwork, installed along the highway retaining wall, between the Tunnel and Waterfall Park, in Bayfront Park, will transform a prominent public corridor into a colorful celebration of the region's creativity, culture, and natural beauty.

A community ribbon-cutting celebration for the Wheelway Art Walk is scheduled for Friday, August 28, at 5:00pm. There will also be a ribbon cutting for the "Friends Bench", located across from Waterfall Park, at 4:00pm, on August 28.

Department of Public Works crews will be flushing hydrants in the West Sheridan and Cemetery Road area on August 25, 2026. Flushing will be accomplished only during daylight hours. Please look for posted signs for hydrant flushing in your area.

Customers might experience discolored water as a result of hydrant-flushing operations. Prior to using hot water, cold water faucets should be opened to allow water to run freely for several minutes until becoming clear.
