Join us for our fall volunteer event, Harvest & Hammers! October 5th-8th we will be building sheds for our two Indian River builds, bringing them one step closer to becoming homes.

Shifts are from 10am-2pm with lunch and refreshments provided. Sign up, bring a friend, and come out to learn new skills and help make affordable homeownership possible in northern Michigan!

No experience is necessary and we will provide all the tools, safety gear, and instruction you'll need.

Our 38-home Meadowlands subdivision is almost complete, and seeing it all from above is a pretty incredible reminder of what can happen when a community comes together.

Frequently Asked Question: Why buy a Habitat home instead of buying on the open market?

Our Home Ready Program was created for people who are financially ready for homeownership but face barriers in today’s competitive housing market.

Many of our buyers try the open market first, only to find themselves:
• Outbid by offers well above asking price (sometimes by cash buyers)
• Unable to find a home within their budget
• Looking at homes they can afford that need significant repairs before they’re move-in ready

That’s where Northwest Michigan Habitat can help.

Through our Home Ready Program, we work with local, state, and federal partners to provide financial assistance, so qualified buyers may not need a down payment and don’t need to finance the full market value of the home.

And unlike the open market, our buyers aren’t competing against one another. Qualified applicants are placed on a waitlist, and as homes are completed, they are offered to buyers in the order they joined the waitlist.

Northwest Michigan Habitat for Humanity is seeking bids from contractors across a variety of trades, including general contracting, electrical, roofing, plumbing, and more, to support our home repair program.

Bids and pricing from local contractors help us better understand project costs, plan for upcoming repairs, and connect with potential contractor partners for future work.

As repair projects come up, we’ll use this information to help determine the best fit for each project.
