Thank you to the Weiss High School band for letting me volunteer in the concession stand at Friday night’s Weiss vs. Lake Travis football game!

We all wore #75 stickers to honor Lake Travis High School football player Odin Hensley. In between orders, I had the opportunity to visit with some Lake Travis parents and hear more about the impact Odin’s passing has had on their community. The Lake Travis community continues to be in my prayers as they navigate this unthinkable loss. ❤️

I also learned Friday night that band parents are a different breed and they graciously allowed me to be baptized by sweat and nacho cheese into their ranks. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Those band and color guard kids work HARD, and they have incredible examples at home from their parents and at school from their band directors.

And if you’re looking to brush up on your mental math skills while frantically calculating two waters, a soda, two hot dogs, nachos and a bag of Skittles with a line of people staring at you…boy, do I have a volunteer opportunity for you. 😂

Thanks for keeping me sharp, Weiss High School Band! 🐺

Today was a busy day working hard for PfISD. Morning Superintendent Review Committee meeting followed by reading and responding to emails. After that I called to check in with one of my fellow Trustees to ask questions about some of the issues I read about in the emails.

Then I shifted my focus to my day job at an engineering firm. After a full work day and lots of productivity (yay!), I slipped out of my last work call of the day at 4:30 to cheer the middle school kiddos from across the district at their cross country meet at Bohls.

Great job to all our athletes. The heat was brutal, the coaches were caring, and just finishing a race like that is a huge achievement!

Pflugerville ISD is suspending the use of the Flock Safety camera system on district property, effective immediately.

Thankful for the generosity of Vernagene Mott and TASB. Glad we could honor her at our meeting.

There is something special about seeing accountability scores come in after a year of hard work. As Chair of the Academic Committee, I have watched many of these campuses throughout the year. I have prayed, encouraged, asked questions, and, if I’m being honest, held my breath waiting to see the outcomes of all that work.

As trustees, we have to look at both lagging indicators and leading indicators. The accountability scores we receive today are, in many ways, a lagging indicator, they tell us where a campus was academically during the previous school year. But those scores are only part of the story. Throughout the year, we are also watching the leading indicators: the assessments, progress monitoring, benchmarks, interventions, and countless other measures that help us understand where students are headed.

I explained it to a parent last spring this way: it’s like hitting a moving target. You can't just look at where the target was yesterday and take a score at face value. You have to pay attention to where it is moving and measure progress along the way.

That is why I am so proud to celebrate the campuses seeing strong accountability results. These scores represent thousands of moments of teaching, learning, perseverance, intervention, encouragement, and hard work by our students, teachers, principals, staff, and families.

As a board we committed to a north star goal: 75% of our campuses to be A/B rated by 2030. These results move the needle from 40% to 52%. These results are something to celebrate, but they are also something more: they are part of the legacy we are building.

Every lesson taught, every student encouraged, every challenge overcome, and every point gained contributes to something bigger than a single accountability score. It becomes part of the story of a campus and ultimately, part of the legacy we leave for the students who come after us.

Today, we celebrate the results. We celebrate the progress. And most importantly, we celebrate the people who made it possible.

Well done, PfISD! Keep moving the needle. Keep believing in our students. Keep building a legacy worth celebrating.

📈 Progress worth celebrating! 💙

We’re incredibly proud of the improvement happening across Pflugerville ISD. The 2026 accountability ratings show 11 campuses improved their overall rating from 2025 — including campuses that jumped multiple letter grades! 🎉

⭐ Timmerman ES improved by three letter grades
⭐ Westview MS improved by two letter grades
⭐ Mott ES, Northwest ES, Pflugerville ES, Ruth Barron ES, Spring Hill ES, Park Crest MS, Connally HS, Weiss HS and PACE HS each improved by one letter grade

And for the first time since 2021-22, PfISD earned an overall B rating as a district.

Every improvement represents the hard work of students, educators, campus leaders, families and communities coming together to move our schools forward. We are proud of our campuses and the progress they are making! 👏📚

There’s always more work to do, but today, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the growth. Every step forward matters. 💙

This is worth celebrating! That one letter jump represents a lot of hard work behind the scenes and it's always rewarding to see that work reflected in the results. Let's keep raising the bar! Proud of our students, staff, families, and community.

🎉 Pflugerville ISD earns a District B Rating!

We’re proud to share that Pflugerville ISD has received an overall B rating from the Texas Education Agency, our district’s highest overall rating since the 2021-22 school year! 📚👏

This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, staff, families, and community. We’re proud of the progress happening across PfISD and excited to continue building on this success!💙

Happy Pfirst day of school PFISD! There’s something special about the first day of school, the excitement, the chaos, the nerves, and all the possibilities that come with a brand-new year.

Today I had the opportunity to visit Weiss High School, Connally High School, Cele Middle School, Dessau Middle School, and Westview Middle School. I’m so grateful to each of the principals who welcomed me, gave me a glimpse into their campuses, and shared their excitement for the year ahead. I just happened to grab pictures with Principals Ramirez and Delgado, thank you for humoring me.

Walking through the schools, seeing the energy of a new year, and imagining all that will happen in those classrooms reminded me of the challenge Dr. Shepherd gave us at convocation: **legacy**.

What kind of legacy will we leave this year? What will our students remember about the adults who believed in them, challenged them, encouraged them, and showed up for them? What moments will become part of their story long after this school year is over?

It’s been a crazy day in my own house, too, getting my kids off to school, celebrating a kiddo's birthday, and trying to keep up with all the first-day excitement. But the absolute highlight of my day? My freshman in high school actually gave me an unsolicited hug in the hallway before walking to class. 🥹

I realize this may not sound like a monumental achievement to most people, but if you have a freshman in high school, you understand that I am counting this as a major parenting victory (I'm not crying, you're crying). I’m not saying I’ll be talking about it for the rest of the year… but I’m also not saying I won’t.

Here’s to a new school year, new possibilities, and the opportunity to leave a legacy that matters. And apparently, if I’m lucky, a few hugs along the way. ❤️

Had a wonderful morning alongside our dedicated district staff, fellow trustees, and amazing volunteers helping distribute backpacks filled with school supplies to students in our community.

A heartfelt thank you to our generous community partners for donating the school supplies and to the Pflugerville Education Foundation for helping make this event possible.

One of the best parts of the morning was helping our youngest students pick out their backpacks and hearing how excited they are for the first day of school. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and it’s a great reminder of what this work is all about.

Wishing all of our students, families, and staff an incredible start to the new school year!
