Last night, Pflugerville firefighters responded to a structure fire where a working smoke alarm played a critical role in protecting lives.

The homeowner reported that the smoke alarm activated, alerting the occupants to a problem. After cracking open the garage door, he encountered heavy smoke - shut the door, and immediately evacuated the home before calling 911.

Thanks to the early warning provided by the smoke detector and the quick decision to get out, everyone was able to safely escape the residence.

This incident serves as an important reminder: working smoke alarms save lives. Test your smoke alarms monthly, replace batteries as needed, and ensure alarms are installed in and around sleeping areas and on every level of your home.

Between the rain showers, β€œA” Shift took advantage of the break in the weather to get in some valuable live fire training at the RGM Training Center.

Training doesn’t stop because conditions aren’t ideal, in fact, some of the best opportunities come when crews have to adapt, overcome changing environments, and stay mission focused. All this in order to sharpen their skills and commitment to serving the community at the highest level. πŸ”₯πŸš’

The Pflugerville Fire Department was proud to support the Spouse Resilience Workshop at the RGM Training Facility this weekend.

Members of the Peer Support Team and Mentorship Committee volunteered their time to help 14 couples experience a glimpse into the daily realities of the fire service and the unique dynamics of firefighter family life.

Throughout the workshop, couples participated in discussions on marriage, communication, and resilience, while also taking part in hands-on activities including forceful entry and hose movements. The goal was simple: strengthen communication, build understanding, and reinforce the importance of supporting one another both at home and on the fireground.

A strong fire department starts with strong families, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make this event a success.

Special thanks to for the amazing pictures.
