Our residents had a wonderful time watching Chef Darla prepare delicious fried green tomatoes during her live cooking demonstration. From the sizzling skillet to the final tasting, everyone enjoyed this Southern favorite and the opportunity to learn from our talented chef!

🇺🇸 Honor Our Heroes: Memorial Day at Gardens at Brook Ridge 🇺🇸

This Memorial Day, our residents came together to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Our special Remembrance Altar featured cherished photos and tributes to loved ones who served and are no longer with us.

Residents proudly dressed in patriotic attire, waved American flags, and reflected on the freedoms we enjoy because of the courage and sacrifice of so many.

❤️🤍💙 May we never forget their service, sacrifice, and legacy.

Banana Walnut Muffins 🍌🌰

Soft, naturally sweet, and wonderfully comforting. Bananas provide potassium and natural energy, while walnuts add omega-3 fatty acids that support brain health. This is a recipe that feels familiar and reassuring, perfect for sharing with a cup of tea on a May morning. 💛

Ingredients
🍌 2 ripe bananas, mashed
🥚 2 eggs
🧈 1/3 cup melted butter or neutral oil
🍯 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
🌼 1 tsp vanilla extract
🌾 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
🥄 1 tsp baking soda
🧂 1/4 tsp salt
🌿 1/2 tsp cinnamon
🌰 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions
✅ Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin
✅ Mash bananas well in a large bowl
✅ Whisk in eggs, butter, honey, and vanilla
✅ In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon
✅ Fold dry ingredients into wet until just combined
✅ Stir in chopped walnuts
✅ Spoon batter into muffin cups, filling about two-thirds full
✅ Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean
✅ Cool for 5 minutes before turning out
✅ Serve warm or at room temperature 🍵
