Ladonia Volunteer Fire Department is asking for the community’s help with donations of bottled water and Powerade.

As the weather heats up, our firefighters go through a large amount of water and sports drinks during training nights, emergency calls, and long incidents. These donations help keep our members hydrated and ready to serve when the community needs us.

Any donations of bottled water or Powerade would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for continuing to support your local volunteer firefighters 🚒🔥

Donations can be dropped off at the stations front door or the civic center door.

Today we stand with our brothers and sisters in law enforcement as they mourn the loss of one of their own. Though we wear different uniforms, we share the same oath—to protect, to serve, and to stand in harm’s way for our community. We honor their sacrifice and will carry their memory forward.

In honor of Marine and Officer Hinton, our flag will be flown at half-staff on April 29, 2026, from sunrise to sunset. We recognize his service across every uniform he wore.

Many brush and woods fires we respond to are preventable. A few simple habits can make a significant difference:

- Secure Your Chains
Dragging trailer chains can throw sparks and ignite dry grass along roadways. Always ensure chains are properly secured and not contacting pavement.
- Watch Your Sparks
Grinding, welding, and cutting produce hot sparks that can travel farther than expected- especially in dry conditions. Clear your work area and keep a water source or extinguisher nearby.
- Avoid Parking on Dry Grass
Hot exhaust systems can ignite dry vegetation in minutes. Park on gravel, dirt, or pavement whenever possible.
- Equipment Awareness
Heavy machinery can generate heat and friction. Keep equipment maintained, remove debris buildup, and operate with caution in dry areas.
- Keep a Fire Extinguisher Handy
Whether at home, in your vehicle, or on a job site- having quick access to an extinguisher can stop a small fire before it spreads.
- Control Your Burns
If you’re burning debris, never leave it unattended, keep it contained, monitor weather conditions, and fully extinguish before leaving.

Conditions are dry. It doesn’t take much.
Stay alert. Stay prepared. Protect your community.
