The Alabama Junior Cattlemen’s Association will be hosting two Fall Youth Field Days this September!

Both field days will focus on cattle reproduction and genetics and are FREE to attend, with lunch provided at both events. To help accommodate travel distances, one field day will be offered in North Alabama and one in South Alabama.

• September 9: South Alabama Field Day at JYJ Red Angus in Columbia, AL
Registration closes September 2!
• September 30: North Alabama Field Day at Bar V Genetix in Blountsville, AL
Registration closes September 23!

🐴HORSE U IS EXPANDING!

Auburn University students and the Department of Animal Sciences at Auburn University are excited to offer not one, but TWO Horse U programs this year! 🧡💙

With Horse U consistently welcoming 100+ enthusiastic attendees, we’re expanding our program to provide even more young equine enthusiasts with hands-on learning opportunities!

🌟 Equine Elementary

👧 Ages 7–12

🌟 Advanced Horse U
📅 Saturday, April 3, 2027
🧑‍🦱 Ages 13–18

Both programs will provide exceptional, hands-on experiences designed to introduce youth to horses, build confidence, and expand their equine knowledge and skills.

Precision agriculture helps farmers use technology and science to improve efficiency, increase yields and reduce input costs.

Alabama Extension specialist Simer Virk works with growers to put those tools into practice, including something as important as proper sprayer calibration. Without accurate calibration, farmers can under- or overapply pesticides, wasting product, time and money.

The East Central 4-H Extension Agents just completed 2 days of training at the Alabama 4-H Center with other agents and directors from across the state. We can’t wait to get back in the schools and clubs next week to share all the fun things for the year!
