Hello Everyone,
This is Officer Hoppe. I wanted to personally reach out and thank all 8,594 of you for following and supporting this page over the years.
It has truly been an honor and a privilege serving as your Community Relations Officer for the 35th Police District for more than 13 years. The time has come for me to move on from my position as CRO.
Serving as your Community Relations Officer has taught me more than I could ever put into words. I have had the opportunity to meet and help so many incredible people throughout the 35th District. This position is no joke—it is demanding, challenging, stressful and requires a tremendous amount of time and dedication—but I always tried my best to help as many people as possible and make a positive difference.
Over the years, we have held countless community events, meetings, Unity Days, National Night Outs, prayer vigils, crime prevention programs, neighborhood cleanups, and so much more. None of those things could have happened without our incredible community partners, residents, businesses, clergy, Town Watch groups, elected officials, city agencies, and everyone who stepped up when our community needed them.
I also want to personally thank Captain Burks, along with the many captains, supervisors, and officers I have worked with over the years, for giving me the opportunity and support to serve this community.
Most importantly, thank you to the residents of the 35th District. Thank you for trusting me, calling me, emailing me, stopping me on the street, attending our meetings and events, and allowing me to be part of your neighborhoods and your lives. I truly love and appreciate each and every one of you.
While I may no longer be your Community Relations Officer, I am not leaving the 35th District. I will still be here, and I will continue to help wherever I can. If you reach out to me with a community concern, I will make sure the information gets to the right person and that any CRO-related concerns are forwarded to our new Community Relations Officer.
And with that, I would like everyone to join me in welcoming Officer Welton as the new Community Relations Officer for the 35th Police District.
Officer Welton is a 9-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department and has also served 13 years with the U.S. Army National Guard. I know he will bring his own experience, dedication, and ideas to this position, and I ask everyone to give him the same support you have given me throughout the years.
Officer Welton, I wish you nothing but success in this position. Take care of our community, listen to them, work with them, and enjoy the relationships you will build along the way.
To the 35th District community—thank you for more than 13 incredible years.
This isn't goodbye. I'll still be around the 35th.
