The City of Philadelphia, MS

The City of Philadelphia, MS Philadelphia is a city in and the county seat of Neshoba County, Mississippi, United States.

The region of Neshoba county and the surrounding counties was the heart of the Choctaw Nation from the 17th century until removal of most of the people in the 1830s. 🚧 TRAFFIC ALERT 🚧

A partial roundabout opening and traffic flow change is now in place. Earlier today, Mayor Jim Fulton drove through the intersection and witnessed an incident involving drivers not properly following the stop and yield signs. Because this traffic pattern is new to all of us, we are asking everyone to please slow down, stay alert, and pay close attention when approaching this area.

⚠️ IMPORTANT UPDATE:
The portion of the roundabout where Lakeside Drive connects previously had a stop sign while the area was being used as a detour. That stop sign has now been removed, and Lakeside Drive traffic now has the right-of-way in that area. Please be aware of this change and pay close attention when entering the intersection.

Please take a moment to study the graphic below before driving through the intersection. A few extra seconds of caution can help prevent accidents and keep everyone safe.

Here are a few important reminders:

🛑 STOP SIGN:
A stop sign means you must come to a complete stop. Look both ways, wait until traffic is clear or until you have the right-of-way, and then proceed carefully.

⚠️ YIELD SIGN:
A yield sign means drivers should slow down and yield to traffic already moving through the intersection or roundabout. If traffic is clear, you may continue without stopping. If another vehicle has the right-of-way, wait until it is safe to proceed.

Please do not drive distracted. Put the phones down, stay focused, and use extra caution while we all adjust to this new traffic pattern. We want everyone to get where they are going safely, and we appreciate your patience during this transition.

We are hopeful the storms will weaken before reaching us, but it is always best to be prepared. Please continue monitoring trusted weather sources for updates.
