Our 21st Century Summer School students put STEM learning into action today!

Students read and discussed the story Bartholomew and the Oobleck, where a king’s request for a sticky green substance creates unexpected chaos throughout his kingdom. After the story, students became scientists by creating their own oobleck using cornstarch and water.

Through this hands-on activity, students explored the properties of matter and learned the vocabulary words liquid and solid. They discovered firsthand how oobleck can act like both a liquid and a solid, helping them connect literature with real-world science concepts in a fun and engaging way!

🍽️ FREE BREAKFAST & LUNCH AT PES! 🍽️

Philadelphia Public Schools is proud to offer FREE meals for all children 18 and under! We are providing breakfast and lunch meals at no cost to kids from June 1 through June 27.

Meals will be served Monday through Wednesday in the PES Cafeteria during the following times:

• Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
• Lunch: 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

What a sweet surprise from the PHS Cafeteria Family! 🎉❤️

Ms. Mina Mooney was celebrated with an end-of-the-year birthday lunch that was nothing short of amazing! The cafeteria staff went all out with steak and baked potatoes, deviled eggs, and of course, Ms. Mooney’s favorite — banana pudding! 🍌🍮

Thank you to our ladies and our incredible staff for the love, laughter, and kindness you show every single day. Moments like this are what make Philly Cafeteria more than a workplace — it’s FAMILY! 🌪️
