Today January 2nd, our water system occurred a water main break near the Weatherstone subdivision area off Highway C. We have contacted everyone that we have a phone number for to alert them of the boil advisory. During this break, we had a water surge which caused red water and could be seen SYSTEM WIDE. This is not a health hazard but can stain laundry. We will continue to flush the lines trying to remove any and all red water. This could take a few days to get out of the lines. If you still have red water on Monday Jan 5th please call and we will come flush that area.

Now that things have slowed down at the water office, i feel a post is needed.
This morning a home on Highway J was on fire, at 8:16 911 called and asked to refill at our water tower west of Philadelphia. Upon arrival, someone had run over our fire hydrant, and it was laying on the ground. They moved operations to the front of Marion Co School. While they were filling the trucks from this hydrant, our town lost water pressure, which caused the school to go without water and close down for the day at 9:15. The low pressure was only happening while they were filling the trucks. DNR was called and reported a boil advisory is optional since the water line wasn't broken and introducing dirt/bacteria into the line. If you feel it necessary you can boil any drinking or cooking water for the next 48 hours.
Our prayers go out to the family and firemen and women who have tried to save this home.

In another incident, our water line was hit outside of Palmyra near our Highway KK tower around 10 am, those who are affected by this boil order have been called or a voicemail left. It has been an eventful day for our water office but never hesitate to call if you see a water spot or are having water issues.

The Philadelphia area may have noticed some yellow water due to a pressure surge after a repair yesterday. This is safe to drink if you chose. Please refrain from washing white laundry until your water is back to normal. We will be flushing today to try and move this through our system.

PLEASE DONT FLUSH, FLUSHABLE WIPES. We have had a recent issue with our sewer pumps and the cause was flushable wipes. These types of items will cause our equipment to fail and need replacing, which in turn could require us to raise our sewer rates.

One of our employees along with his church, Mission Hill Baptist Church, took supplies down to North Carolina over this long weekend. What a blessing it is to have amazing employees to work with and help out, not only OUR water customers, but others in need.
