Join us at Firehouse for friendship and fun! Lunch, education, chair yoga, line dancing, billiards, Mahjong, community information and SO much more - we are located at 54th and Haverford. Visit Monday through Friday, 8 am to 3:30 pm!

For older adults navigating grief, loneliness, or a major life change, the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) and Pennsylvania's network of Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) offer more than services. They offer opportunities to build connections, find purpose, and start a new chapter.

Meet three people whose lives were changed through their local AAA:

🎱 Jim found friendship at a pool table. After losing his mother, Jim discovered Active Aging, Inc. in Meadville. Now he visits twice a week for lunch and community. In Jim's words, "I was lost. That place saved my heart."

☕ Lucy found her "Cheers." At 83, Lucy found belonging at the Broomall Senior Center, where everyone knows her name. What began as a way to fill the void after her caregiving role ended became a place where she has more friends than ever, and now gives back as a volunteer.

💕 Evelyn and Carl found love again. Each turned to their local AAA, Active Aging, Inc. in Meadville, after experiencing loss. A shared painting class and a little matchmaking later led to marriage, proving that connection can bloom at any age.

These are just three stories playing out every day across Pennsylvania, including here in Philadelphia, where PCA serves as Philadelphia's Area Agency on Aging, helping older adults access resources, remain independent, and stay connected to their communities.

PCA is looking for volunteers to become Certified Lay Leaders for the Chronic Disease Self Management Program. In this role, you'll help facilitate workshops that give older adults tools to manage chronic conditions, build confidence, and stay engaged in their communities.
