As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage month, come grab your copy of The Storyteller's Death! Protagonist Isla lives her life between her isolated childhood in New Jersey, where she is lonely and friendless dealing with her mother's alcoholism after her father's death, and her summers in the warmth of her family in Puerto Rico. As she begins college, the deaths of her Tia Alma and her Abuela reveal a family gift/curse, which Isla now shares in. Perfect both for Hispanic Heritage month and spooky season, this novel explores themes of generational trauma, class and colorism, and the complexity of family and identity. Can Isla, the newest cuentista in her family line, learn how to live with the haunting stories of her family's past, or will carrying these stories cause her death? We will discuss in the Katharine Drexel Library book club on October 7, copies available now!
