There will be NO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS TOMORROW, Friday, September 4, 2026.

Tomorrow is a scheduled Staff Professional Learning Day as our educators take time to learn, grow, and prepare to better serve our students.

Students, enjoy your day off by making the most of the Barbour County Fair! 🎡🐄🎠 Take some time to explore, learn, and enjoy all the educational experiences the fair has to offer!

Bus announcement for tomorrow Thursday, September 3, 2026:

Due to a lack of substitute bus operators, bus 25B on the Philippi end of the county will not be running tomorrow afternoon. It will be running in the morning. Transfer students from bus 24, will ride bus 101 from Philip Barbour to transfer to their bus home.

In Honor of “I Love WV Public Schools”

Today, we’re proud to share Why Public Ed with Tonya Ferguson, CTE Director & Associate Principal at Philip Barbour High School.

“I love public education because I believe every student deserves equal access to a quality education, regardless of where they live, their circumstances, or the challenges they may face.”

For Tonya, public education is personal. Her mom was a Barbour County educator throughout her entire career, giving Tonya a firsthand look at the difference an educator can make in the life of a child and an entire community.

A proud graduate of Philip Barbour High School, Tonya’s husband and both of their children are also PBHS graduates. After moving away for nine years for work, their family chose to come home — because they wanted their children to grow up in a small community surrounded by people who knew them, cared about them, and wanted to see them succeed.

Today, after more than 30 years in education, Tonya has the privilege of serving Barbour County students as the CTE Director and Associate Principal at Philip Barbour High School.

“I still love what I do and, most importantly, I still believe in the importance of public education. We get to serve ALL kids, and I believe every student deserves the opportunity to find their strengths, discover their path, and have people in their corner along the way. Not every student’s path will look the same, and that’s exactly how it should be.”

Tonya’s love for Barbour County Schools runs deep. From being the daughter of a Barbour County educator, to a student, a parent, and now an educator herself, public education has been part of her life for generations.

We are grateful for educators like Tonya who continue to believe in the power of public education and in the potential of every student. There truly is something special about a small community that comes together for its kids. 💙💛

🍽️ NEW THIS YEAR AT PHILIP BARBOUR HIGH SCHOOL! 🍽️

We’re excited to announce that beginning Tuesday, September 8, students at Philip Barbour High School will have TWO lunch options on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays! 🎉

🥇 OPTION 1 — County Menu
Students can continue to choose the published Barbour County Schools menu for the day — the same great meals featured on our monthly menu.

🥈 OPTION 2 — PBHS Second Line
Looking for something different? We’ve got you covered!
🌮 Taco Tuesday — A different taco-inspired meal each week!
🍕 Pizza Wednesday — A different pizza option each week!
🥪 Sandwich Thursday — A different sandwich selection each week!

The second line will offer different choices each week, giving our students even more variety and flexibility at lunchtime.
Regardless of which lunch option students select, all students will have the opportunity to choose fresh fruits and vegetables from our Garden Bar! 🌱🥦🍎🥕

Our goal is simple: High Quality Food/Meals • High Quality Service • Improve Meal Participation ❤️💙
We hope our PBHS students enjoy having more choices at lunch this year! Be sure to check the monthly menu to see what’s being served each day.

Bus announcement for tomorrow Friday, August 28, 2026:

Due to a shortage of bus operators the following buses will not be running tomorrow. Bus 120B on the Philippi end of the county and bus 11-27 (formerly bus 103B) on the Belington and Junior end of the county will not be running in the afternoon.

Bus 25B on the Philippi end of the county will not be running. Transfer students from bus 24, will ride bus 101 from Philip Barbour to transfer to their bus home.
