๐Ÿšจ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ Flood Debris Reporting Update โš ๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ“ฃ

Weโ€™re turning off comments for this post so we can stay focused on answering phone calls. We know many of you are dealing with damage and stress from the flooding since July 21, and our hearts go out to everyone affected. Thank you for your patience as we work through the high number of reports coming in.

๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ“ž Please report stream blockages only ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ›‘

Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) is used during a State or Federal emergency declaration to address sudden disasters. Under EWP, watershed technicians look at debris in streams to see if assistance applies. This includes woody debris, trash, or other material thatโ€™s blocking the flow.

How to report:
โ€ข For Barbour, Taylor, Tucker, Upshur or Randolph counties, call Tygarts Valley Conservation District at (304) 457โ€‘3026
โ€ข For Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison and Lewis counties call West Fork Conservation District at: (304) 627-2160.
โ€ข Reports must be made by the landowner, since this gives technicians permission to access the site without trespassing
โ€ข A watershed technician will visit the site after the report is taken

If you reach voicemail, please leave your name, phone number, and a short description of the location. Weโ€™ll return calls as soon as possible.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we continue supporting our communities through the ongoing flooding impacts.

๐Ÿšจ COMMUNITY DONATION DRIVE: Back-to-School Support for Barbour County Kids! ๐Ÿšจ

With the abrupt cuts and funding changes to the stateโ€™s school clothing vouchers, countless families right here in Barbour County are left scrambling without the vital assistance they counted on for the school year.

We want to make sure our local kids head back to the classroom feeling confident, prepared, and cared for. Our community always shows up for its own, and we need your help now more than ever!

๐Ÿ‘– Clothing Needs (Toddlers to Age 18)
We are collecting clothing for boys and girls in all sizes, from toddler sizes all the way up to adult/teen sizes (up to age 18).

A quick note for our donors: Because these are for school-aged kids and teens, we kindly ask that adult-sized clothing be youthful, modern, and in styles that kids and teens actually want to wear to school (think current trends, graphic tees, hoodies, jeans, and athleisure let's skip the traditional adult or older styles, please!).

To respect our students' dignity and make sure they feel great, we also ask that all clothing items be clean, gently used, and completely free of stains, tears, or excessive wear. If you wouldn't feel comfortable putting your own child in it, please don't donate it!

๐ŸŽ’ Other Essential Items Needed:
Shoes: Sneakers and everyday footwear in all youth and teen sizes

School Supplies: Backpacks, notebooks, pencils, folders, binders, and other classroom essentials

Hygiene Supplies: Deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, and feminine hygiene products

๐Ÿ“ Where & When to Drop Off:
Location: Belington Golden Rule

When: Regular business days during regular business hours, or on Saturdays and Sundays while the bakery is open.

How: Just look for the clearly marked, designated donation area!

Letโ€™s rally together and make sure Barbour County kids have everything they need for a successful, stress-free school year. Thank you so much for your incredible generosity and support! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ“š
