In 1987 a group of concerned Valley
residents founded Anderson Valley
Housing Association (AVHA) in response
to the dire need for affordable housing in
our rural, agricultural community. The
limited availability of rentals, high real
estate costs and low wages resulted in
many individuals and families living in
cars, tents and even in culverts. Since its inception, AVHA has acquired
and renovated
two properties which now
provide quality, affordable housing for
farm workers and other low-income
families. We welcome your participation
and support as we strive to find
ways to create more affordable housing
solutions in Anderson Valley. Opportunities are available for
participation on our Board of Directors
and its working Committees. The Valley continues to face a serious
shortage of small and large rental units,
as well as affordable home ownership
opportunities for people who work here
and those who have grown up here. The
lack of available small parcels and lack
of infrastructure, specifically water and
sewer services, are continual obstacles as
well. Finding solutions to these challenges will
allow our community to maintain its
diversity in age and economic levels. AVHA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Responsible fiscal management
allows us to operate sustainably. We
welcome your financial contributions,
land donations, ideas and volunteer
participation. Board members:
