Saturday, members of the Philo Fire Department had the opportunity to join the Tolono Fire Protection District for live-fire training at the Illinois Fire Service Institute.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to train alongside our mutual-aid partners and continue building the skills and teamwork needed to better serve our communities.

Philo Fire was proud to assist Homer Fire Protection District and our fellow mutual aid agencies at this afternoon’s barn fire.

Tender 1767 responded to assist with water supply operations.

Strong mutual aid is essential to protecting our communities, and we’re always grateful for the opportunity to work alongside our neighboring departments.

Over the past weeks, members of the Philo Fire Protection District successfully completed a 40-hour Grain Bin Rescue Operations course hosted here in Philo.

Nine of our firefighters dedicated multiple days to this specialized training, furthering their knowledge and skills to better serve our community and provide assistance to neighboring departments through our mutual aid system. Training like this ensures our personnel are prepared to respond safely and effectively to complex agricultural emergencies.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Illinois Fire Service Institute for the outstanding instructors

Philo Fire was proud to assist and work alongside all responding agencies. Strong teamwork and coordination by everyone involved made for an effective response to a challenging incident. A busy day for the Philo Fire Department yesterday.

Units were first dispatched to the northern part of our district for a report of a tree fire. Upon arrival, Brush 1781 found fire extension into a nearby garage. Crews quickly went to work and were able to extinguish the fire with assistance from Tender 1767 and Engine 1752.

Shortly after returning to the station, crews were paged again to assist our mutual aid partners in Homer on a working structure fire. Engine 1753 and Tender 1767 responded to provide additional manpower and support.

We’re proud to answer the call and stand alongside our mutual aid partners whenever needed. Thank you to all of our members for their dedication and quick response yesterday.
