Philo Fire was proud to assist and work alongside all responding agencies. Strong teamwork and coordination by everyone involved made for an effective response to a challenging incident. We’re grateful for the mutual aid partnerships we share across the area and are always ready to answer the call when needed. Great work by all crews.

A busy day for the Philo Fire Department yesterday.

Units were first dispatched to the northern part of our district for a report of a tree fire. Upon arrival, Brush 1781 found fire extension into a nearby garage. Crews quickly went to work and were able to extinguish the fire with assistance from Tender 1767 and Engine 1752.

Shortly after returning to the station, crews were paged again to assist our mutual aid partners in Homer on a working structure fire. Engine 1753 and Tender 1767 responded to provide additional manpower and support.

We’re proud to answer the call and stand alongside our mutual aid partners whenever needed. Thank you to all of our members for their dedication and quick response yesterday.

Eastern Prairie Fire Protection District responded mutual aid to Carroll Fire Protection District for a reported structure fire at
1604 Olympian Rd., Unit 1.

Engine 6051 arrived on scene and assisted with suppression efforts. Shortly after arrival, crews made a good knock on the fire and were able to contain it quickly.

Thankfully, nobody was injured during the incident.

St. Joseph Fire Department
Edge-Scott Fire Department
Philo Fire Department
Savoy Fire Department

We would also like to extend a special thank you to the Champaign County SIFT Team, Arrow Ambulance, and METCAD Dispatchers and Salvation Army!

Through teamwork and cooperation, crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly and safely.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

VGFD has responded to FIVE unattended field fires today. These have either been in our response area or an adjacent district. Please do not leave fires unattended, especially in this wind. This may not seem like a big deal but it does tie up a lot of resources to address.

There is a Wind and Dust Advisory in effect until 6:00 tonight.

We had a great time this week at Unity Elementary’s Touch-a-Truck event. While some agencies may claim they had the coolest vehicle there… we’ll let the kids decide after they saw the fire truck. 🚒😉

In all seriousness, events like this mean a lot to us. Getting the chance to connect with the community, meet the kids, and give them a look into public safety is what it’s all about. Thank you to Unity East Elementary, Champaign County Sheriff's Office, and everyone who helped make it a great day.

We’re always proud to represent Philo Fire Protection District and serve this community—both on emergencies and at events like these. 🔥

Philo Fire Protection District is proud to host an Illinois Fire Service Institute Grain Bin Rescue Operations course this July at the Philo Fire Department!

📍 Location: 110 E. Washington St., Philo, IL 61864

📅 Dates:
• July 10-12, 2026
• July 17-19, 2026

⏰ Friday: 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
⏰ Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

⚠️ All sessions are mandatory.

💲 Cost:
• Illinois Residents: $300
• Out-of-State: $1,050

This hands-on class is a great opportunity for firefighters and responders to gain valuable knowledge and skills in grain bin rescue operations.
