🚒🔥 Tortoise Tuesday in Action! 🐢
Today (6/2/26), Philomath Fire & Rescue received a call for a Structure Fire including Blu’s 🐢 shell-ter. Crews swiftly arrived, assessed the fire in Blu's enclosure and extinguished the blaze with extra staffing assistance from the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Wildfire Staffing Grant.
Although Blu was shell-shocked by the event, he remained uninjured, thanks to the defensible space within his habitat. Make Blu a local legend- proving even the smallest creatures using defensible space and can make a big difference.

Today (5/27/26), we had the opportunity to join neighboring agencies in an Incident Management Training Exercise with Benton County, Oregon that simulated a wildfire threatening neighborhoods in Corvallis and Philomath. These sessions are essential for enhancing our collective and collaborative skills to ensure we're prepared to serve our communities effectively.
However, our day took an unexpected turn as we were called away to provide automatic aid for a Structure Fire in Alsea.
Meanwhile, our valuable Volunteer members stepped up to handle multiple medical calls in Philomath while we were away.
We appreciate the support and cooperation among regional fire departments, which helps us manage incidents and ensure community safety. Thank you for your trust and support. Stay safe, Philomath! 🚒

🚒🔥 Philomath Fire & Rescue Update: Wildfire Assistance 🔥🚒
This evening (5/23/26), our Philomath Fire & Rescue team responded to a call for automatic aid to assist the Oregon Department of Forestry - West Oregon District in tackling the wildfire on Botkin Road along with Corvallis Fire, Monroe Rural Fire Protection District, Hoskins-Kings Valley Rural Fire Protection District and Alsea Fire Department. The fire, located in a clear-cut area, the one acre is now contained thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of the crews on the scene. They will remain vigilant throughout the evening to ensure the area is safe and secure. We are grateful for the teamwork and dedication of all involved, working tirelessly to protect our community.
