As a business owner it’s required you perform monthly inspections for your extinguisher(s).

🧯Step 1) Check Accessibility - Is it easily visible? It should not be blocked by any equipment or other objects.

🧯Step 2) Examine the physical state - Is the label readable? Is the cylinder damaged or dented? Is the hose secured to the cylinder and free of cracks? Is the locking pin present?

🧯Step 3) Check the pressure gauge - The needle should be in the green zone.

🧯Step 4) Look for the inspection tag - NFPA standards require your🧯be inspected and tagged by a certified technician every 12 months.

🧯Step 5) Generate report and recommend action plan - After inspecting the 🧯 keep track of it. Most inspection tags have an area on the back to log the date and your initials/name. Add this to the calendar of monthly duties at your business to keep yourself accountable.

These codes and regulations are also enforced by National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and most cities/states/jurisdictions abide by them as well.

There are only a couple of ways to activate a fire suppression system if there is a grease fire, one of those being if the fusible links separate. As you can see, the link on the left is heavily corroded with grease which would most likely not allow it to work for its intended purpose if there is a fire. Evaluating and replacing fusible links by a licensed and certified professional is one of many components to the semi-annual inspections we provide.
