Stay hydrated, PHX! Make sure you are drinking plenty of water even when you are not thirsty. If you are outdoors, the CDC recommend drinking 8 ounces of water every 15-20 minutes. Our Office of Innovation also offers a network of chilled water fountains and bottle-filling stations throughout downtown. Find chilled drinking water near you: https://bit.ly/4mVgpEI

Students at Clarendon Elementary rolled up their sleeves and helped plant 15 new native trees and grasses as part of the Canopy for Kids program! Additionally, students helped add in earth moving elements to capture rainwater for the trees.

Their energy and curiosity made this event something truly special — growing not just shade for the future, but a stronger connection to our urban forest. 💚

Huge thanks to our amazing partners who make this work possible:

Arizona State University College of Global Futures

Watershed Management Group

EcoRise

U.S. Forest Service

Together, we’re helping create cooler, greener spaces for our communities.

Phoenix students are making an impact! Students at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School PHX and Catalina Ventura School planted more than 100 trees last week as part of the Canopy for Kids program. In addition, Watershed Management Group dug basins for rainwater collection and students spread mulch to support healthy tree growth. We’d like to thank our partners Arizona State University College of Global Futures, Watershed Management Group, EcoRise, and U.S. Forest Service for helping make this possible.

We’re growing a cooler Phoenix! 🌳 Last year was an incredible year for tree planting. We planted 4,774 trees citywide. Our office added 1,372 trees, including 1,110 at private homes thanks to Inflation Reduction Act funding and more trees will be planted this year. Don’t forget to say hi to all these new trees when you see them because Phoenix is getting greener.

🌳✨ The City’s Tree and Shade Dream Team proudly attended and presented at the 2025 Partners in Community Forestry Conference in Henderson, NV — the first time this incredible event was hosted in a desert city! 🏜️

With over 6,000 attendees and speakers from around the world, the conference was a powerful gathering of urban forestry leaders, including amazing representation from Arizona: Tucson Clean & Beautiful, The City of Tucson, The Nature Conservancy, AZSA, Unlimited Potential, and the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management. 🌎🌱

We’re honored to be part of the movement growing greener, healthier, and more resilient communities — one tree at a time. 🌿💚 Arbor Day Foundation
