I implore Governor Katie Hobbs to veto HB2460. Abandoned shopping carts create blight, block sidewalks, and pose safety hazards. Since implementing our ordinance, we’ve seen a 94% reduction in abandoned carts.

The bill on the Governor's desk would undo Phoenix’s shopping cart ordinance entirely. Let’s not lose the progress we’ve made! Call or email the Governor’s Office at 602-542-4331 and [email protected] and urge her to veto HB2460.

Thank you azfamily 3TV CBS 5 for covering this important community issue!

The Phoenix Police Department received the 2026 IDC Smart Cities North America Award in the Public Safety Category for its unmanned aerial systems program. I championed this technology to enhance community safety. In its first two years, the Police Department flew more than 12,500 missions, covering everything from search warrant service and surveillance of violent offenders to crime scene documentation and major event overwatch. I’m proud to support modern policing and strengthen public safety across Phoenix!

From flight testing aircraft to next- generation, aerospace technology, Honeywell Aerospace is helping shape the future right here in Phoenix! I was honored to participate in a tour of which is preparing to launch as an independent company. I’m excited about the new opportunities for investment, innovation and quality jobs while strengthening our role as a major center for the aerospace industry.

Phoenix has seen nearly 75 mountain rescues this year even before summer started. The Trails Heat Safety Program restricts certain trail access on National Weather Service Extreme Heat Warning Days from 8am to 5pm. I urge everyone to take these warnings seriously.

The issue is not just about protecting hikers, but also our firefighters and rescue personnel. When someone becomes stranded or suffers a heat-related illness on a mountain trail during extreme temperatures, our first responders must carry more than 145 pounds of equipment up steep terrain in dangerous conditions. Every unnecessary rescue places those men and women at risk.

When we make smart decisions, we protect ourselves and our families, and we help ensure our first responders can return home safely at the end of their shift. City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department Phoenix Fire Department
