“On January 28th, an unmanned aerial drone attack occurred in northeast Jordan.
The 1-158th Bushmasters had members stationed at Tower 22 in support of Operation Spartan Shield, resulting in multiple Arizona National Guard injuries and the death of three Georgia Reservists. I am thankful to report the injuries sustained by our Arizona Guardsmen are non-life threatening, and many of those wounded in action have already returned to duty.
This news came as a shock to families, friends, and our organization and we are closely monitoring the situation. We have maintained contact with the Battalion Commander, LTC Joseph Mayeaux, who emphasized the trained and ready Soldiers of the Bushmasters performed amazingly. I would expect nothing less of our Guardsmen and am extremely proud.” -Maj Gen Muehlenbeck, AZNG Adjutant General
We mourn the loss of our Georgia counterparts, sending their families, friends and state our condolences.
