An equal blend of Democratic blue and Republican red, PurpleLetter.org is a nonpartisan letter-writing tool offering an easy way for people to get ideas and experiences in front of members of the U.S. For a minimal fee, PurpleLetter.org’s letter-writing technology helps users craft letters, find the appropriate recipients and addresses, and send each correspondence via First Class Mail. Once a let
ter is sent, users receive a confirmation e-mail with a copy of their letter and the list of recipients, including their phone numbers, email addresses and/or websites. User may then post their letter in our Letter Gallery (making the content immediately visible on the world-wide web) or share it via Facebook, Twitter and/or email. TECHNICALLY SPEAKING:
PurpleLetter.org is an innovative web-based service that encourages and empowers people to share their voices and views directly with government officials and members of the media by combining an online letter-authoring tool, social media and a robust integration with a physical mail fulfillment capability. The application itself is built using PHP and MySQL, and leverages Amazon’s EC2 (Elastic Cloud Computing) and S3 web services. Letters that are written at PurpleLetter.org are processed by the application and queued for next-day printing (on purple letterhead and stationery) at the company’s secure printing center. Users’ PurpleLetters are sent via first class mail to recipients selected from PurpleLetter.org’s vast contact database of government officials and members of the media. OR
