"That’s why I am joining Democrats, Republicans and Independents asking you to vote “yes” on Proposition 211, the Voters’ Right to Know Act. If passed, any group spending more than $50,000 on statewide campaigns or $25,000 on local campaigns will have to disclose the names of the original contributors who provided the money for the campaigns." - Former Arizona Governor Fife Symington

I was elected governor in a simpler time, before anonymous donors spent millions to attack you. That has not been good for Arizona politics.

5 Ways Secret Money Makes Its Way Into Our Election from the Campaign Legal Center. They have been a huge advocate of ours. See the attached article on their website and there is a link for the podcast. Who is the CLC? From their website: Campaign Legal Center (CLC) is a nonpartisan organization that advocates for every eligible voter to meaningfully participate in the democratic process. We use tactics such as litigation, policy advocacy and communications to make systemic impact at all levels of government

To reduce political corruption, we need real transparency about who is spending on elections so that politicians cannot benefit from unlimited, secret money from special interests. Voters have a right to know who is spending big money to secretly influence our vote and rig the political system in th...

We just picked up another vote Yes on 211. I was in a parking lot getting into my car when a guy pulled up and asked me what dark money is. He saw the my painted windows. When I explained it to him he smiled and said "I will definitely vote Yes for this". Window painting does work. Go get a paint pen made for windows and help us spread the word!

National NPR radio - Marketplace Morning Report - came out to Arizona a few weeks ago to interview us about Proposition 211 and our fight against Dark Money. The first segment aired today at around 7:45-7:50am. We would have let you know sooner but we weren't certain exactly what time it would air. Now we know.

There are going to be additional segments everyday this week at the same time with a summary on Friday which will be made into a podcast.

Here's the link to today's segment:
https://www.marketplace.org/.../secret-campaign-spending.../

They interviewed Terry, Sandra Kennedy, Bob Burns (former Arizona Corporation Commissioner), one of our volunteers from Maricopa County (Nicki Kirkeby), Becky Daggett, (from Coconino County and City of Flagstaff mayoral candidate), Kelly Gibbs from Flagstaff who by herself collected over 2,500 signatures and Diane McQueen.

Today's segment featured Sandra Kennedy and Bob Burns.
This would not have happened had it not been for all of you getting us on the ballot. Take a bow. You deserve it!

And thank you to NPR and David Brancaccio, host and senior editor of the Marketplace Morning Report for coming to see us!

The story of the 2014 Arizona Corporation Commission election campaign and the influence of so-called dark money.

Secretary of State Ballot Measure Town Halls starting tomorrow!

There will be three "Town Halls" put on by the Secretary of State to discuss the 10 propositions. There will be one on Saturday Oct 1 starting at 9am, one on Monday Oct 3 starting at 4pm and the last one on Tuesday Oct 4 starting at 1pm.

The propositions will be taken in the order they appear on the ballot. Each proposition gets 15 minutes. There will be a description from the SOS Office, and a 'neutral description by the JLBC, three minutes by the proponents and three for the opposition. That should leave at least 5 minutes for public comment and questions.

Terry will present on the 1st and 4th and David Tedesco, one of our co-chairs, will do it on the 3rd.

We hope you can dial into at least one of the presentations and cheer us on and ask provocative questions.

Arizona's voters are invited to attend a Town Hall meeting on the statewide ballot propositions. Per Arizona law, the Secretary of State's Office will conduct a series of Town Halls to educate the public about the General Election ballot propositions. The meetings are free and open to the public. Th...

Campaign Contributions: Disclose or No?
The Sandra Day O'Connor Institute for American Democracy is hosting a live webcast debate on Tuesday, October 4 at 10am PT/1pm ET.

https://oconnorinstitute.org/campaigncontributionsprop211

Terry is participating in a moderated debate with John Riches who is the Vice President for Litigation for the Goldwater Institute’s Scharf-Norton Center for Constitutional Litigation and General Counsel for the Institute.

The Goldwater Institute was one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit to try and keep us from getting on the ballot. This should be interesting.

LIVE DEBATE Campaign Contributions: Disclose or No? Among the questions that will be put to Arizona voters this November is one asked by Proposition 211: should the original source of campaign contributions be disclosed? To elucidate the matter and present the strongest positions for their opposing....
