198th Regional Support Group

198th Regional Support Group The 198th Regional Support Group is a brigade level organization in the Arizona Army National Guard headquartered at Papago Park Military Reservation.

It consists of the 158th and 153rd Combat Sustainment Support Battalions and Headquarters Company. Soldiers with the 198th Regional Support Group and the 996th Medical Company, Area Support, conducted M4A1 carbine weapons qualifications June 4, 2026, at near Bellemont, .

The training included zeroing and automatic record fire on a pop-up range. Realistic training environments ensure Arizona soldiers maintain a high state of , providing trained and capable forces to support both regional security overseas and homeland response missions at a moment's notice.

The 198th RSG wrapped up annual training at Camp Navajo near Bellemont, , last week, testing their and across a wide range of field exercises. From June 4 through 11, 2026, these warriors refined their tactical skills through M4A1 carbine and M17 pistol qualifications, team movement, close-quarters combat drills, night vision training, radio communications, land navigation, and a military biathlon.

The honored U.S. Army Master Sgt. Mark Torres, signal operations section chief for the 198th Regional Support Group, during his ceremony at Papago Park Military Reservation in Phoenix, June 14, 2026.

Torres retired after 38 years of distinguished military service. The ceremony included the presentation of the Army Meritorious Service Medal and a certificate of retirement, and celebrated his long-standing dedication to the nation and state.
