Proposition 143 is a direct threat to our local public safety.

If passed, this measure would permanently alter the Arizona Constitution, creating dangerous consequences for our communities by stripping away local control over critical firefighter staffing, training, recruitment, retention, and working conditions.

These vital decisions belong in the hands of our local communities, fire chiefs, and the dedicated firefighters who keep you safe every day: not state politicians.

Arizona Task Force-1 is officially activated.

Today, a 48-member team—proudly made up of our own Local 493 members—rolled out of Phoenix heading toward the San Antonio, Texas area.

Equipped with boats and top-tier search and rescue capabilities, our crews are being pre-positioned by FEMA ahead of major storms and potential catastrophic flooding. This ensures they are ready to hit the ground running to support rescue operations if the worst happens.

We will keep the community updated on their progress as conditions on the ground develop. Please keep these dedicated men and women in your thoughts as they head out to help those in need.

Taking care of business! 🛠️💪🚒

The crew of Phoenix Fire Engine 50 came upon a disabled vehicle blocking a busy intersection. Seeing the hazard, the engine positioned to safely block traffic while four of our firefighters laced up and pushed the heavy truck over a mile uphill to the nearest driveway.

For the past 7 years, Firefighter and Engineer Willie Williams has dedicated his life to answering the call for complete strangers during their hardest days. On July 1st, a devastating fire struck his own family’s small farm, destroying their home and nearly everything they owned.

Thankfully, Willie, his family, and their dog made it out safely, but they lost their clothes, furniture, and all household essentials, including the computers and supplies they rely on to homeschool their children.

Anyone who knows a firefighter knows they are much quicker to offer help than to ask for it. But today, this dedicated public servant and his family need our community’s support to rebuild from scratch.

A verified GoFundMe has been set up to help cover temporary housing, basic essentials, and school supplies for the kids as they face the long road ahead.

🇺🇸 Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸

Today, as our nation celebrates this milestone Semiquincentennial, the members of Local 493 are doing what they do best: stepping up to protect our communities.

A massive thank you to all Local 493 firefighters who left their own families today to staff the trucks, man the stations, and keep our cities safe during the holiday heat. We also want to recognize and thank all fellow public service and labor brothers and sisters working today to keep things moving.

Stay safe out there, look out for one another, and have a proud and safe 4th of July! 🚒🔥❤️🤍💙
