The Lion's Club are collecting donations for soldiers in Afghanistan this year. Donations can be dropped off at Peoria libraries.
"Christmas for the Troops
We will be collecting items for out troops deployed in Afghanistan until November 22nd as everything must be mailed by December 10th to reach the troops by December 25th.
Items needed:
All forms of toiletries for men and women: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion (intense moisture), toothpaste (regular size, not Costco size), toothbrushes, shaving cream, feminie hygiene products, wash cloths, baby wipes, etc.
Eye drops, lip balm, sunscreen
White tube socks, black or tan uniform replacement socks
Winter thermal underwear
Jerky, healthy snacks (salty/crunch) i.e. - trail mix, almonds, and sunflower seeds (out of the shells)
Candy (chocolate okay in winter) and gum
Toys (Slinkies, silly putty, yo yos)
Books and magazines for men and women (nothing provocative) i.e. cars, hunting, health and exercise
Crossword puzzles, sudoku, handheld electronic games
Batteries for games and flashlights
Wraparound sunglasses, small black LED flashlights
Phone cards
Holiday Greeting Cards, unsealed. We'll need to check for inappropriate comments."
