Last week, the Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture welcomed our new Director, Phillip Dunlap — alongside arts and culture community leaders — introducing a fresh chapter for our creative community.

Our team would like to thank everyone who joined us that evening, and a special thank you to Camille Sledge and Mitch Freedom for sharing a beautiful performance with us.

Design Concept Update Please join the Bell Road public art project artist, John Randall Nelson and City of Phoenix staff for the reveal of the design concept for art medallions planned for installation on light poles along Bell Road, from I-17 to 7th Avenue. This is an opportunity to meet the artist and provide feedback before design is finalized.

Public Art Program Annnouncement: Meet the commisioned artist for Sueño Park Public Art Project, Joe Ray!

Joe Ray is an Arizona based artist and educator who explores the connection between language and visual art. He uses his imagination to create artist books, experimental letterpress prints, and large-scale public artworks. He's inspired by how words, materials, and design can come together to shape an experience.

On July 2, 2026 Joe Ray faciliated an art activity at Maryvale Light Up The Sky to receive feedback from community members by asking "What gives a park super powers?" he received over 200 drawings to guide the ideas phase of the public art process.

The Phoenix Airport Museum is one of the largest airport art programs in the country. It manages an extensive art collection and aviation history archive and presents exhibitions throughout the entire Sky Harbor airport system. The Aviation Department's Museum Section is seeking an experienced Museum professional to serve as the Administrative Assistant II (Associate Curator). This position will work closely with the Museum Manager and other staff members to lead and develop Museum exhibitions, outreach initiatives, and digital communications that further the Phoenix Airport Museum's mission to promote Arizona arts and culture. This position requires an accomplished, self-motivated, and collaborative leader who has the ability to work in a multifaceted and fast-paced department. The ideal candidate will have a proven knowledge of Arizona artists, Museum curation, social media communications, and enthusiasm for public outreach
