Great safety reminders from our partners at Valleywise Health!

As Arizona's summer temperatures climb, so does the risk of contact burns from hot pavement, playground equipment, metal surfaces, and other heat-exposed objects. These injuries can happen to anyone but children, older adults, and pets are most at risk.

Take a moment to review these important safety tips and help keep your family safe this summer.

Stay safe, Arizona. 💛

We’re just days away from Camp Courage! And thanks to the incredible generosity of Law Tigers Arizona, this year’s campers will have 14 brand-new bikes to ride during their unforgettable week at camp. 🚲

This weekend dozens of young burn survivors from across Arizona will head to Prescott for a life-changing week filled with healing, friendship, adventure, and fun! Camp Courage gives campers the chance to build confidence and connection through activities like horseback riding, swimming, arts and crafts, tie dye, high ropes, rappelling, and more — all while surrounded by a community that understands their healing journey.

The Law Tigers have been longtime supporters of Camp Courage, and we are so grateful for their continued commitment to helping burn survivors not just survive, but thrive. We already know these bikes are going to bring so much joy and excitement to campers this summer!

Thank you, Law Tigers, for helping create lifelong memories for Arizona’s burn survivors. ❤️

This spring, communities across Arizona came together to help make homes safer through our Community Smoke Alarm Walk program.

Together with our fire department partners, the American Red Cross, volunteers, and community members, we were able to:

🚨 Install 866 smoke alarms
🏠 Protect 338 homes
📚 Empower 693 residents with home fire safety information
🙌 Mobilize 264 incredible volunteers

This season, we visited communities across Arizona including Marana, Florence, Sun City, Golder Ranch, Peoria, Tempe, Sedona, Surprise, Chandler, and Williams — working side-by-side to help prevent home fire tragedies before they happen.

This spring season also marked the continued expansion of our program to better protect the whole family, including specialty alarm systems for Deaf and Hard of Hearing residents and the launch of our partnership with Rescue Retriever pet smoke alarms.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible fire department partners across the state including Northwest Fire District, Town of Florence Fire and Medical Department, Sun City Fire and Medical Department, Golder Ranch Fire District, Peoria Fire-Medical Department, Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department, Sedona Fire, Surprise Fire-Medical Department, Chandler Fire Department, Williams Fire Department and the American Red Cross Arizona for continuing to stand beside us in this life-saving work.

And thank you to every volunteer and resident who welcomed us into your communities and homes. ❤️

Together, we are building safer communities across Arizona.

This Memorial Day weekend, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

As you spend time with family and friends this long weekend, remember to keep safety top of mind — especially here in Arizona, where extreme heat can quickly turn everyday surfaces into burn hazards.

✔️ Never leave grills or stovetops unattended.
✔️ Watch kids and pets closely around flames, fire pits, and BBQ grills.
✔️ Keep a fire extinguisher nearby.
✔️ Fully extinguish campfires and bonfires before leaving.
✔️ Wear clothing that protects your skin from the Sun.
✔️ Apply sunscreen with SPF30 or higher every 2 hours.
✔️Test pavement, metal surfaces, and playground equipment before touching.
✔️Protect feet and paws from hot pavement.

A few simple precautions can help keep your holiday safe for everyone.

From all of us at the Arizona Burn Foundation, we wish you a safe Memorial Day weekend.

They conquered the canyon with strength, courage, and heart. 💪❤

Our incredible group of Conquering the Canyon hikers pushed through a 25-mile trek through the Grand Canyon. And with every step, they raised hope, awareness, and support for the burn community.

For many of these hikers, the journey was deeply personal. Several are burn survivors themselves who know firsthand the challenges burn survivors face. Now, they're giving back to other survivors and continue the move forward with courage and resilience.

Together, Jason Nelson, Eric Bergman, Breanne Bergman, Tami Chmielewski, Buzz Lechowski, Jen Lombardo, Christine Creeger Farling, Jessica Kidwell and Joe Burnside conquered the canyon and reached their goal to raise $30,000 for burn survivors and their families.

We are endlessly grateful to all the hikers, donors, and supporters who made this unforgettable journey possible. Special thanks to our presenting sponsor Cunningham Law Firm and our partners K2 Adventure Travel and K2 Adventures Foundation for supporting these hikers and keeping them safe every step of the way!

Because of you, burn survivors and their families will continue receiving the support, connection, and healing they deserve.

📣BIG NEWS FROM THE ARIZONA BURN FOUNDATION📣

We are excited to officially announce Bridget Doherty as Chief Executive Officer of the Arizona Burn Foundation! Thank you to Phoenix Business Journal for featuring Bridget in "People on the Move".

🎉 THEY DID IT! 🎉

All of our incredible Conquering the Canyon: Survive to Thrive hikers successfully completed the 25-mile trek across the Grand Canyon!

We are beyond proud of these determined survivors and supporters who took on this challenge to support the mission of the Arizona Burn Foundation.

A huge thank you to ABC15 Arizona for highlighting our hikers’ inspiring journey and sharing their stories with the community. Be sure to check out the story here: https://youtu.be/oi9f_jnqQP8

Our hikers are SO close to reaching their fundraising goal of $30,000 — they need just $2,199 more to get there! Every dollar raised helps support burn survivors and their families through recovery programs, community support, and healing opportunities like this one.
