Alta Vista Elementary Alta Vista Elementary School - Home of the Aviators! 🛩 We offer a strong academic program where individual needs and learning styles of children are addressed.

Alta Vista Elementary provides a well-rounded, student-centered education in preparation for continuing education and life skills. Every student at Alta Vista receives daily interventions. We do Tier II interventions at the grade level, responding to recently taught materials and Tier III interventions in our Literacy Lab. In addition, after-school interventions are provided through a 21st Century Grant. All interventions are planned using data and implemented utilizing research-based materials and first, best instruction.

We are SO excited to share some amazing news! The Washington Education Foundation (WEF) has awarded THREE grants to Alta Vista Elementary this year through its grant cycle for teachers and staff! We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity to bring new ideas, resources, and experiences to our Aviators.

Each of these projects represents a wonderful opportunity to support our students, strengthen connections, encourage movement, and make learning resources more accessible. We cannot wait to see these ideas come to life on our campus!

Our Aviator Society PTO is bringing a little Halloween fun to Alta Vista with this year’s Boo Grams! 🎃

For just $1 each, students can send a Boo Gram to a friend, sibling, family member, or favorite teacher on campus! Each Boo Gram includes a fun bubble wand and a little message to let someone know they’re special.

🗓️ When to Buy: October 19–23
📍 Where: During lunch recess
🎃 Delivery Day: Friday, October 30 — Boo Grams will be delivered to homeroom classes!

We’re excited to welcome Cavity Free AZ to Alta Vista Elementary on Tuesday, November 24th! 🦷 🪥

Dental screenings and preventive services will be available for students in:
✨ Kindergarten: Fluoride varnish to help protect teeth and prevent cavities.
✨ 2nd & 6th Grades: Dental sealants to help protect molars from cavities.

📣 Important Reminder for Families: Permission forms must be completed and returned to school by Friday, November 6th for your child to participate.

Who knew a library book could lead to such a delicious adventure?! 😍

Haley, one of our amazing 4th grade Aviators, checked out a cookbook called Cooking Class from our library and put her learning into action by making cupcakes using one of the recipes! 🧁 Just look at those delicious creations!

We LOVE seeing our students take what they read and turn it into real-life experiences. Reading opens doors to new ideas, builds knowledge, and inspires us to try something new. Haley, way to go putting your reading into action! We hope those cupcakes tasted as amazing as they look! 📖🧁

A special thank-you to our Library and Media Specialist, Mrs. Miramontes, for creating and growing our Library of Things. This wonderful resource gives students opportunities to bring books to life and explore their interests beyond the pages.

Aviator families, it’s almost time to connect, celebrate your child’s progress, and partner together for a successful school year! We look forward to welcoming you to Alta Vista for Parent-Teacher Conferences.

🌙 SAVE THE DATE: Late Night Conferences
📅 Thursday, October 29
⏰ 3:00–7:00 p.m.
🚪 Gates close at 6:45 p.m.

We’ll have a few fun extras to enjoy while you’re on campus!

🍧 Kona Ice will be available for purchase.
👻 Boo Grams will be for sale from our Aviator Society PTO.
📚 Book Fair will be open for shopping!

🗣️ Translation Services: Spanish and Arabic translation services will be available during our Thursday late-night conferences.

📅 IMPORTANT: Early Release During Conference Week
Students will be dismissed at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, October 27–Friday, October 30. Please plan ahead and make any necessary arrangements for your child’s early pickup.

📩 How do I schedule a conference?
Your child’s homeroom teacher will send out information about how to schedule a conference. Please watch for communication from your teacher!
