Maryland School Maryland School opened in 1952. It opened the same year as Mountain View, making them the third and

Maryland School services pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students. Located in the heart of central Phoenix, Maryland was constructed in 1954 during the post-WW II housing boom. While renovations and remodels have ensured students benefit from the technological innovations of the 21stcentury, the school maintains its historic charm. Classrooms are large to accommodate varied groupings and act

ivities, and nearly every classroom enjoys the benefits of large windows and natural sunlight, which research has shown increases achievement. All classrooms use SMART Board technology and students have access to a computer lab for their learning. Maryland boasts a long-standing relationship with the community, and several staff members were former Maryland students themselves! Maryland teachers employ the use of collaborative planning and ongoing data analysis to support all learners through rigorous, engaging lessons in order to prepare them to be successful in their future college or career choice. We are committed to our University of Virginia school model, which focuses on instructional practices. Staff is building our reading and math intervention plan and data discussions to make decisions to best meet the needs of all students everyday. Staff also work together to implement the Response to Intervention (RTI) model. The structure of RTI provides Maryland students with added academic support. Teachers continue to work on math instructional strategies to build a strong understanding and application of math skills. Maryland features:

HUGE round of applause for two incredible women at Maryland — Lisa Hayes, our Academic Intervention Specialist and Britney Villa, our Social Worker! 👏✨

While they serve in very different roles on our campus, they share two very important things in common. First, they are among the most dedicated, selfless, and hardworking people you will ever meet. Both are truly the fuel behind so many wonderful achievements and successes at Maryland, often working behind the scenes to support our students, staff, families, and even initiatives across the District. Their commitment to this community is unwavering, and they give their hearts to this work every single day!

Second, they are BOTH recipients of one of the highest honors in our District — the Lamp of Learning Award! 🏆 This recognition is so well deserved, and we could not be more proud to celebrate them. Maryland is incredibly lucky to have these two amazing women as part of our community! 💙 Congratulations to you both!
