"No Hate in CD8" was founded as a social justice watchdog group devoted to exposing anti-gay rhetoric and policy statements in the 2013 Phoenix City Council race for City District 8. We are a non-partisan, non affiliated coalition of CD8 voters who are focused on promoting full equality under the law and an equal voice in discussions for LGBTQ CD8 voters.

Big international news in the movement for equality.

LONDON -- The British government published a bill to legalize same-sex marriage Friday, and said lawmakers will get their first vote on it in Parliament next month. The Marriage (Same S*x Couples) Bill extends marriage to gay couples but excludes clergy in the Church of England – the country's...

Community leaders met with Candidate Stewart yesterday (Jan 25th), where Stewart agreed to some basic protections for LGBT citizens in the realms of employment and other public arenas, but failed to recognize the inherent equality of our love. CD8 residents have a tough choice ahead, but it's encouraging that 2 out of the 3 candidates in this race believe in our right to marry.

The director of Equality Arizona, an advocacy group for the le***an, gay, bisexual and transgender community, has released a letter raising concerns over the “anti-gay sentiment” of prospe

Long before support for marriage equality was mainstream, let's take a moment on this day to remember and honor Coretta Scott King, a social justice trailblazer who understood, like her husband, that there are no exceptions to standing against discrimination. This video is from 18 years ago, a time when supporting the LGBTQ community was considered cultural su***de. Thank you for standing with us - and remembering that injustice anywhere is always a threat to justice everywhere.

Coretta Scott King lived her husband's words - that discrimination, no matter what type, is always wrong.

Proud to hear our President's clear message on equality today - and proud to stand behind a President who has grown into a real social justice champion with his bold stance on equality. Thank you for being a true social justice champion, Mr. President.

Way to go Obama! ♥

"One of the great liabilities of history is that all too many people fail to remain awake through great periods of social change. Every society has its protectors of status quo and its fraternities of the indifferent who are notorious for sleeping through revolutions. Today, our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new ideas, to remain vigilant and to face the challenge of change".

No Hate in CD8 joins the rest of the country in celebrating the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Even more than 45 years later, his statements on social justice and equality remain just as relevant as they were the day they were spoken.

We've picked up well over 10 likes in the last two hours - wow, thank you for the support! We're excited to be pushing the positive message of tolerance and equality for all in Phoenix City Council District 8 - and we have the momentum, because fewer and fewer Americans are opting for the intolerance of the past. Thanks to HRC Arizona for the graphic!

Echo Magazine has carried some coverage of the CD8 race and the controversy surrounding Warren Stewart's comments regarding equality. Equality Arizona President Rebecca Wininger's assessment of the situation is excellent!
