Desert Foothills offers a true middle school experience in which students are placed on an academic team consisting of five core teachers providing a school-within-a-school atmosphere. This environment provides purposeful interventions where needed and improves communication and integration. Each team of teachers builds camaraderie and infuses the DF team spirit while watching out for the students’ well-being and promoting positive youth development during the impressionable 7th and 8th grade years. All academic teams offer advanced classes in math, reading and science. In addition, an outstanding group of special education teachers works with each team to meet the needs of students with learning disabilities in reading, writing and math. We offer READ 180, enrichment for math and language arts and Title I math for regular education students struggling with those concepts. Interventions and enrichment programs are in place to meet all of our students’ academic needs. We strive to create a very safe environment in which all students can be academically successful and experience positive social development during their middle school years at Desert Foothills. ☀️ Our Summer School students had a great day at GCU exploring future career opportunities! ☀️

🩺🏥🩻Students learned from professionals in a variety of fields. Including Banner Health, where they got to “scrub in” and participate in a mock surgery. They also worked with Law Enforcement to learn more about how fingerprinting is used in investigations, and were able to learn how to take others fingerprints! 🫆🚔🚨

It was a fun, hands-on experience that helped students explore different career paths, ask questions, and think about their futures. We are grateful for our partnership with GCU and the WESD for making this possible!

What an incredible weekend at Desert Foothills! ❄️🎭

Our students absolutely shined in Disney’s Frozen Jr. and delivered three amazing performances that truly felt professional from start to finish. We are so proud of the hard work, dedication, talent, and courage each cast and crew member brought to the stage.

A huge THANK YOU to Mr. Durnavich and Ms. Coleman for the countless hours, leadership, and passion they poured into making our schools FIRST musical production and success! Your commitment to our students made this experience unforgettable!

Thank you as well to all of the families, friends, staff, and community members who came to support our performers throughout the weekend. Your encouragement and applause meant the world to our students.

Bravo to everyone involved in Disney’s Frozen Jr, you made Desert Foothills proud! ❄️🎭
