Sun Cup Wellness provides accessible, comprehensive s*xuality education for people with disabilities, caregivers, families, and service providers. Its work helps people build knowledge and skills related to consent, boundaries, healthy relationships, personal safety, bodily autonomy, and s*xual health.

Services include caregiver and service provider workshops, family and organizational consultations, self advocate workshops, educational resources, and staff training.

We are grateful to welcome Sun Cup Wellness to the ACESDV membership network and look forward to the knowledge, connection, and collaboration they bring to our shared work.

Financial abuse is a tactic used to gain power and control in a relationship by preventing access to financial resources. Financial abuse occurs in 99% of domestic violence cases (NNEDV). Examples include feeling pressured or forced to give money to your partner, not being allowed to have your own bank or credit card accounts, or not being allowed to have employment. A new school year can bring new routines, friendships, and relationships. It can also be an important time to talk with young people about what respect looks like.

Repeatedly checking someone’s location, demanding passwords, deciding who they can spend time with, or pressuring them to respond immediately are not signs of care. Healthy relationships make room for boundaries, privacy, independence, and time with other people.

Young people deserve relationships where they feel respected, heard, and safe.

On Friday, August 14, ACESDV CEO Jenna Panas and one of ACESDV's Board members joined community partners for the opening of the Pima Family Advocacy Center.

Jenna had the honor of speaking during the celebration as the community marked this important addition to coordinated, survivor centered support in Pima County. We are grateful to everyone whose leadership and collaboration helped make this center possible.

NEW PROGRAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT

Please join us in welcoming Destiny House Restoration Center as an ACESDV Program Member.

Based in the greater Prescott area, Destiny House supports women ages 18 and older who have experienced s*x trafficking and s*xual exploitation.

Through its safe transition home, outpatient aftercare, personalized mentorship, holistic healing services, and healthy life skills development, Destiny House helps survivors work toward healing, stability, self sufficiency, and independence. The organization also provides community education and awareness programs focused on human trafficking prevention.

Creating a Facebook fundraiser for the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence is a simple way to invite your friends and family to support safer communities across Arizona.

Why create a fundraiser?

Your fundraiser can help introduce more people to our work while raising funds that support statewide training, technical assistance, prevention, public policy advocacy, community education, and the Arizona Sexual and Domestic Violence Helpline.

How to get started:

1. Open Facebook and select Fundraisers.

2. Choose the option to raise money for a nonprofit.

3. Search for the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence.

4. Set your fundraising goal and end date.

5. Share why this work matters to you, publish your fundraiser, and invite others to participate.

Serving communities in Arizona and several other states, LoopRoots Foundation supports individuals and families navigating difficult transitions, including those impacted by domestic violence, human trafficking, abuse, and the justice system.

Through community partnerships and a network of programs, LoopRoots helps connect people with temporary safe shelter, emergency transportation, housing resources, wellness services, legal assistance, food support, employment preparation, and reentry support.

Does someone seem to know where you are, even when you did not tell them?

Technology can be misused to monitor, harass, or control someone. Location information may be available through:

1. Shared Apple, Google, or social media accounts
2. Family phone plans and location services
3. Apps with location sharing features
4. Bluetooth trackers hidden in belongings or vehicles
5. Connected vehicles or smart home accounts

If something does not feel right, trust your instincts. Before removing a tracker, changing passwords, or turning off access, consider documenting what you notice and using a safer device to speak with an advocate. Cutting off access can sometimes alert the person monitoring you or lead to escalation.

Please join us in welcoming Utah Navajo Health System, Inc. as an ACESDV Program Member.

Serving communities throughout the Four Corners region, UNHS provides 24 hour support for survivors of domestic violence, s*xual assault, and other crimes. Services include safe housing, counseling, behavioral health therapy, safety planning, assistance navigating legal systems, and connections to medical care and community resources.

UNHS operates the Northern Tree House Shelter in Shiprock, New Mexico, and the Gentle Ironhawk Shelter in Blanding, Utah. The organization also works with Victim Witness Services of Northern Arizona to help survivors access support and begin their path toward healing.

Based in Tucson and serving Pima County, the Pima Family Advocacy Center provides survivors of domestic violence and s*xual assault with a safe, central location to connect with coordinated support and resources.

Through partnerships with local agencies and nonprofit organizations, survivors can access medical exams, legal services, law enforcement assistance, counseling, temporary housing, advocacy, and other community resources.
