Monday August 31st is the last day of the discount period for 2026/2027 school real estate tax bills. Things to know if you have not yet made payment:

1. If paying by mail, it must be postmarked by the USPS by 8/31/2026. Postage meters are not the same as postmarks. Consider taking your payment to the Post Office and ask them to "hand stamp" it.

2. Online bill pay payments made through your bank come to me as paper checks. These payments are not postmarked so they must be accepted based on the day received. As such, it is too late to make a discounted payment through your online bank bill pay.

3. There are drop boxes at the front doors of the Township Building and inside the building next to the tax office window. The outside box is accessible 24 hours a day. The inside box is accessible during normal township business hours. There is a Supervisors' Meeting Monday night, so the building will be re-opened for a few hours in the evening. These boxes will be cleared after midnight at which point discounted payments will no longer be accepted.

4. As printed on your bill, I have in person collection hours from 11 am - 2 pm. September hours will be posted after the holiday weekend.

Please note that I do not ever confirm amounts due, or payments received via phone or e-mail. I receive 90% of my payments in the last 2 weeks of August so it is an exceptionally busy time of year. Payments are posted and deposited as quickly as possible, but if you do not include the correct remittance coupon this does hold up the posting of the payment. Please check your bank records for payment status. The instructions for obtaining a receipt are printed on the back of your bill.

My taxpayers sure do know the way to my heart! When I pulled in this morning the parking lot was full and there were easily a dozen people in line at the window. The last 2 weeks of discount are always the busiest time in here, but sunflowers, homemade blueberry muffins and kind words got my morning off to a great start!
