On Monday, June 1st at 2:00 PM, and again on Tuesday, June 2nd at various intervals throughout the day, Constellation will conduct its semi-annual, full-volume test of the emergency warning sirens surrounding Limerick Clean Energy Center (formerly known as "Limerick Generating Station"). This is one of two semi-annual tests performed each year. There is no emergency or cause for concern.
The warning siren system consists of sirens located in the 10-mile radius around Limerick Clean Energy Center in Montgomery, Chester, and Berks Counties. In a real event, the sirens are not a signal to evacuate, but a warning to tune to a local Emergency Alert Broadcast television or radio station.

At 8:03 a.m. Friday, Squad 68 (C Platoon) was dispatched to the 100 block of Market Street in the Providence Town Center for a reported gas odor/leak inside a commercial building. A fog and haze were also reported inside, prompting the incident to be upgraded to a commercial building fire response.

Squad 68 had responded to the same address the previous night at 10:03 p.m. for a similar concern.

No fire was found at either incident. Concrete dust from saws and gas‑powered tools being used in an adjacent vacant suite activated the alarms and created the reported conditions.

Thank you to our mutual aid partners who also responded and assisted with dust, smoke, and odor remediation, including:

Phoenixville Fire Department
Collegeville Fire Company
Royersford Fire Department
Trappe Fire Company No. 1
Perkiomen Township Fire Company
Lower Providence Fire Department

Squad 68 was in service for about one hour.

The UPT Academy is for Cadets ages 10 - 15 and runs the week of August 10 - 14, from 9am to 4pm. The Academy is held at the Upper Providence Township Fire Department at 1315 Black Rock Road (across from Black Rock Park/Township Administration building).

The goal of this camp is to introduce the Cadets to the Emergency Services field. The UPT Emergency Services Academy Staff will introduce the Cadets to, or enhance their understanding of, Communication, Teamwork, and Leadership. All three of these elements are life skills that the Cadets will need for a career in emergency services as well as in their everyday lives.

Participation in the Academy will expose the Cadets to the challenges and physical rigors of a day in the life of an emergency responder. Emphasis will be placed on the need for teamwork, leadership, and effective communication.

Cadets will find out first-hand what it physically and mentally takes to be a first responder. They will experience various aspects of police, fire, and EMS work, including a mock search and rescue, and visits from other local emergency services agencies.

Cadets will finish the week with a graduation ceremony that parents are welcome to attend. Please be advised, camp will end early - shortly after graduation - on Friday, August 14th.

Please note: Availability of any of the various visiting agencies depend on whether there are any emergency calls or adverse weather.

Application deadline is June 19th. There is a limit of 24 Cadets in the UPT Academy.

On Wednesday, the UPT-Trappe Office of Emergency Management and Montgomery County Department of Public Safety supported the American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania during an exercise at the Anderson Farm Park Community Center.

During this drill, the Red Cross team practiced their ability to rapidly respond to a shelter activation request and set up a functioning registration area. Their performance was evaluated on response time and implementation speed, highlighting the many behind‑the‑scenes logistics that go into effective emergency support.

Our Emergency Management Team routinely partners with the American Red Cross, the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety, and other agencies to ensure we remain ready and prepared for potential emergencies within the township and across the region.

Thanks to UPT Parks and Rec for the use of the facility!
