We recently had the opportunity to train our School Resource Officers in CPR and TECC-LEO (Tactical Emergency Casualty Care for Law Enforcement Officers).

This training focused on lifesaving skills including high-quality CPR, bleeding control, and trauma care during critical incidents. We are thankful for the strong partnership we share with Pickens County Sheriff's Office (SC) and their commitment to continuing education and public safety.

Working together and training together helps us better serve and protect our community.

Last week, we had the opportunity to host Sam Johnson (Grady Medical) and Nick Adams (Cobb County Fire) during our IST. Sam and Nick reviewed several of our charts and conducted a mock deposition with the crews. This was an excellent opportunity for our providers to experience trial preparation and courtroom-style questioning in a training environment.

They also shared valuable documentation tips and best practices with the crews to help strengthen patient care reports and improve overall documentation. We appreciate Sam and Nick taking the time to invest in our team and provide this outstanding educational experience.

For decades, the Medic 1 station has been more than just a building it has been home to countless memories, stories, and moments of service to the citizens of Pickens County. Its walls could tell stories of lives saved, lessons learned, friendships built, and generations of EMS professionals who have answered the call from this station.

As we honor that history, we are also looking toward the future.

We are excited to share progress is being made as we move closer to the start of construction on a new Medic 1 station. This project represents an investment in our providers, our operations, and most importantly, the continued care of our community.

While it may be difficult to imagine replacing a station filled with so much history, we are proud to take this next step forward. The new station will help support the growing needs of our system while carrying forward the legacy built at Medic 1.

Progress often means honoring where we’ve been while preparing for where we’re going and we look forward to sharing this journey with you.

This past weekend, several of our providers had the opportunity to attend a Farm Medic class, gaining valuable training focused on responding to emergencies involving agricultural environments and farm equipment. The course provided important insight into the unique hazards associated with farm related injuries and enhanced our providers’ ability to safely and effectively care for patients in these challenging situations.

We appreciate opportunities like this that strengthen our team’s knowledge and help us continue providing high quality care to the citizens and visitors of Pickens County.

A huge thank you to the Healthcare Coalition for paying for the class!
