National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day — August 21
National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day was established by Facing Fentanyl and families affected by fentanyl poisoning across the country to honor the lives lost and raise awareness about the ongoing dangers of illicit fentanyl. Observed annually on August 21, this day serves as a nationwide call to action to educate communities, reduce stigma, prevent fentanyl-related deaths, and save lives.
Illicit fentanyl continues to be one of the most serious drug threats facing communities across the United States. Fentanyl can affect individuals and families regardless of age, background, or circumstance, making education and prevention efforts more important than ever.
August 21 brings together families, first responders, prevention advocates, educators, elected officials, and community organizations across the country. Communities participate through memorials, educational events, awareness campaigns, social media outreach, and conversations focused on prevention and solutions.
For SAFEline, National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day is an opportunity to reinforce our commitment to education, prevention, outreach, and community partnerships. SAFEline is a Division of the Easley Police Department dedicated to protecting and strengthening the Easley community through drug prevention, education, partnerships, and outreach.
We recognize the families and communities who have been impacted by fentanyl poisoning, honor those whose lives have been lost, and stand with those working toward prevention and recovery. Through education, awareness, and collaboration, SAFEline works to help build a safer, healthier future for the Easley community.
August 21 is more than a date. It is a promise to educate, prevent, remember, and take action.
