Join us on Thursday, July 23 for the grand opening of the Pickens County Emergency Readiness Center!

The community is invited to tour the state-of-the-art facility, meet the emergency services professionals who will work there and learn how the center will strengthen emergency preparedness and response throughout the county. You can also take your guess at how many bricks it took to build this new building for a chance to win a commemorative brick and other prizes!

Stop by the courtyard of the Pickens County Administration Building today for our Third Thursday Eat and Greet, featuring King of Fire and PS Baked with Love as our trucks of the month. They'll be serving delicious pizzas and sweets during lunch (11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.).

Congratulations to Pickens County’s first Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) cohort, who received their CERT certifications this week. This cohort volunteered their time to learning emergency preparedness skills that will allow them to better serve their community in an emergency.

We appreciate their willingness to step up and serve their neighbors. If you are interested in joining a future cohort, be on the lookout for updates about future opportunities through Pickens County Emergency Management.

UPDATE 7/10/26: Grant St is reopened.

A portion of Grant St at Blue Ridge Dr in Pickens is closed due to a sinkhole discovered between 103 and 106 Grant St. Please use the marked detour and avoid the area if possible while Roads & Bridges crews assess the damage and begin repairs. We will provide an update as soon as more information becomes available.

REMINDER: Pickens County recycle centers are OPEN today. All other non-essential offices are closed in observance of Independence Day. Recycle centers will be closed on Sat. July 4, and normal business hours will resume for all offices on Mon. July 6. We hope you have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend🎉
