Jonathan Baker Pickens City Council Member

Jonathan Baker Pickens City Council Member I’m running for Pickens City Council to serve with integrity, transparency, and a deep commitment to our community.

Whether you live in the city or not, I appreciate your support—follow along, share with others, and let’s make Pickens stronger together.

I will be doing a live video today at 7:00 PM to discuss concerns related to the City of Pickens and recent matters involving council.

This discussion will reflect my personal perspective as an individual council member and is not intended to represent the official position of the City of Pickens or the full council.

I believe it is important to address some misinformation and provide clarification for the public.

I’ve had a few people ask where I stand on the proposed road diet for downtown Pickens. My response is simple: are you asking if I support public safety? Right now we have two lanes each direction but no turning lanes, which often causes confusion and traffic backing up anyway. Reducing the lanes could create more consistent traffic patterns, dedicated turning space, and longer parking areas that give drivers more room to safely merge when backing out on Main Street. Pickens is a small town and our downtown is a community space, not a highway.

To be clear, council has not voted on this yet. We are still receiving data from SCDOT, and my decision will be based on factual information. Clearly we have a traffic concern in Pickens, and some of the current disagreements may simply be due to the information not yet being widely shared or understood. If a change like this ultimately does not make a positive difference, it can always be adjusted or changed back.

Question of the day: Even if not everyone voted… can we all agree on one thing? It’s pretty much unanimous — we’re all glad the campaigning is finally over. 😅

It’s official — We the People have won! 🇺🇸
Thank you to everyone who put their trust in me and to all who helped me throughout this campaign. I’m ready to work for the whole community — and now we can all enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas without political signs everywhere.
