Movie Nights are back at MacArthur Park! 🍿🎬✨

Join us all summer long for free family-friendly movies at the MacArthur Park Bandshell. Bring a blanket, grab some complimentary refreshments while supplies last, and enjoy an evening with your neighbors.

These movie nights are part of our ongoing effort to bring year-round activations, programming, and community events to MacArthur Park for the children and families in the neighborhood. Because everyone deserves access to safe, welcoming public spaces and opportunities to build community close to home. 💛

Join us this week for screenings of The Wild Robot and Hopper. We’ll see you at the park!

🍿🍿🍿

¡Las Noches de Cine regresan a MacArthur Park! 🍿🎬✨

School’s almost out in CD1! 🎓✨ Tomorrow is the last day of school for LAUSD students across the district, and we’re celebrating the students, educators, and school staff who made another year possible.

Last week, we joined the Miguel Contreras School of Business and Tourism community to celebrate the Class of 2026 and recognize a major milestone for Yolanda Salazar, whose retirement marks 32 years of service to LAUSD and generations of young people across our city.

Congratulations to Andrea and Rosa, the Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the Class of 2026, and to every graduate crossing the stage this year. We are so proud of all you’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see what comes next. 💛

It was my honor to recognize Miss Loretta Lorraine as Council District 1’s 2026 LGBTQIA+ Heritage Month honoree. 🌈✨

For nearly six decades, Miss Loretta has lived authentically, advocated fiercely, and helped pave the way for generations of LGBTQIA+ Angelenos. From standing on the front lines of HIV/AIDS advocacy alongside leaders and activists to mentoring future generations through her work with the TransLatin@ Coalition, her courage, wisdom, and commitment to community have left an immeasurable mark on our city.

Too often, trans elders are left out of our history. Today, we celebrated one of the trailblazers whose resilience and leadership helped make our communities what they are today.

Thank you, Miss Loretta, for your artistry, your advocacy, and for continuing to show up for our community decade after decade. Happy Pride Month. ❤️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, creating jobs, activating commercial corridors, and helping our neighborhoods thrive 💛

Through a partnership with , we celebrated 14 CD1 small businesses receiving up to $15,000 in rental assistance through the Microenterprise Recovery Grant Program. These funds can be used for expenses like payroll, rent, insurance, and inventory, helping businesses in Chinatown, Westlake, and Pico Union catch up on costs and continue serving their communities.

Thank you to for helping deliver this critical support to local entrepreneurs and investing in the economic health of our neighborhoods.
