City of Piedmont Fire Dept hosted a Crash Victim Extrication class last week. This 16 hour hands on class teaches various skills such as stabilization, lifting, extrication and patient packaging. Departments represented were Piedmont FD, Spring Garden VFD and Borden Springs VFD.

Allow us to introduce the new addition to the PFD fleet. This truck will be replacing Engine 1 as our first due pumper. It is a brand new Deep South Fire Trucks pumper with 1500 gallons of water, a 1500 GPM pump, and it's sitting on a brand new International chassis. It will be getting lettering and equipment in the next few weeks and after that it'll be ready to go in service. The purchase was made possible by a grant from Senator Katie Britt. We also would like to thank the previous mayor and council for allowing us to apply for the grant, and the current mayor and council for their support in this purchase to better serve the citizens of the City of Piedmont. If you see us out in it, stop and take a look. Its a sharp truck!

Today, the Alabama Forestry Commission joins Governor Kay Ivey in honoring U.S. Wildland Fire Service Firefighter Sydney Kathryne Watson.

As an Alabama native, Sydney answered the call to serve with courage and compassion, giving her life while protecting others on the Knowles Fire in Colorado.

We honor her memory, extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and fellow firefighters, and remain grateful for the dedication of wildland firefighters who work tirelessly to protect lives, communities, and our natural resources.

Please join us in remembering Sydney and all those who have given their lives in the line of duty.
