Well folks, grab the popcorn and settle into your favorite chair because today’s episode has the BEST ending yet… MELVIN HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 🥹❤️ Our sweet boy Melvin found his forever family at our event today, and we are so incredibly happy for him! Congratulations, handsome boy—you finally got your starring role in the greatest story of all: “Melvin Goes Home!” 🏡🐾

Melvin has always reminded us of one of those lovable characters from a good old-fashioned television show—the kind you’d watch on an old box TV while curled up under a blanket on a cool fall evening. 📺🍁 He’s sweet, lovable, full of personality, and the kind of character everybody ends up rooting for before the final credits roll.

You can almost picture this one playing out like an old-time movie. The autumn leaves are blowing across the sidewalk, the movie music starts playing, Melvin walks into the scene, and suddenly somebody looks at him and knows, “That’s our boy.” 🥹🍂❤️

And just like that, the story changed.

No more waiting around for next week’s episode. No more wondering how Melvin’s story is going to end. We already know the ending—and it’s a GOOD ONE! 🎬🐾

From now on, The Melvin Show is getting an entirely new set: a forever home! 🏡 Instead of shelter kennels, his scenes will feature comfy beds, toys, treats, family adventures, fall walks through crunchy leaves, cozy evenings on the couch, and plenty of love from the people who chose him. 🍁❤️

Sound the sirens because we’ve got an ADOPTION to celebrate! 🚨❤️ Our beautiful girl Louise has officially been ADOPTED right here at our Fetch, Flannels & Forever Families event today! Congratulations, sweet girl! We are SO incredibly happy for you! 🐾🏡

Just like Thelma & Louise, our Louise was ready for one big adventure—but this time there’s no need to keep driving down that open road looking for what comes next. 😂❤️ Louise’s road has officially led her HOME!

Louise came out to our event today with the fire trucks nearby, fall fun all around, and one very important mission: find somebody to fall in love with her. And sweet girl, you did exactly that! 🥹❤️

Good grief, Charlie Brown… WOODSTOCK HAS FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME! 🎉💛 Our incredibly sweet boy Woodstock was adopted over at Petco today, and we couldn’t be happier for him! Congratulations, sweet boy—your shelter days are officially behind you, and your very own Peanuts adventure is beginning! 🏡🐾

If you know Snoopy and the Peanuts gang, then you know Woodstock may be tiny, yellow, a little silly, and speak in those funny little bird chirps that only Snoopy seems to understand 😂, but he is also Snoopy’s loyal best buddy through absolutely everything. And we think that makes the name pretty perfect for our sweet boy because now our Woodstock has finally found his very own best friend and family! ❤️

🐥💛 SNOOPY! GET OFF THAT DOGHOUSE—WE HAVE SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE! 💛🐥

We can already picture the scene at Charlie Brown’s neighborhood. Maybe he’ll spend his afternoons playing, exploring, and getting into just enough Woodstock-style mischief to keep everybody laughing.

And when it’s time to settle down at the end of the day, he’ll have something even better than Snoopy’s doghouse…

Y’all, fall has officially arrived at the Etowah County Animal Shelter, and we are absolutely LOVING it! 🍁🧡 We want to take a moment to send the biggest, warmest, most heartfelt THANK YOU to Kimberly Wilson Johnston for taking the time to decorate our shelter for the upcoming fall months! Everything looks so festive, cozy, welcoming, and absolutely adorable, and we cannot thank you enough for putting so much time, effort, and love into making our shelter look so special. 🥹🍂

There’s just something about fall that makes everything feel a little warmer and happier—the pumpkins, colorful leaves, cooler weather, cozy decorations, and all those beautiful autumn touches. 🎃🍁 And thanks to Kimberly, our shelter is getting to enjoy a little bit of that fall magic too!

Our shelter may be a temporary stop for the animals who come through our doors, but while they’re here, we want it to feel as welcoming and cheerful as possible. Having all these beautiful fall decorations around makes the shelter feel extra special—not only for our staff and volunteers, but also for every adopter, foster family, visitor, and community member who walks through our doors. 🍁🐶🐱

And we have to admit… we LOVE it! 😂🧡 Every little fall touch makes us smile. From those warm autumn colors to all the festive decorations, it feels like somebody sprinkled a little pumpkin-spice magic throughout the shelter! 🎃🍂

The pups may not understand why everything suddenly looks like pumpkins and falling leaves 😂, and the cats may be more interested in investigating the decorations than admiring them, but we know they appreciate having people like Kimberly in their corner who continue showing love to their temporary home.

Our hearts are feeling extra full today! ❤️ We want to send a HUGE THANK YOU to these amazing people for thinking of our shelter babies and bringing us some wonderful items that we truly needed. We cannot tell y’all enough how much we appreciate every single donation that comes through our doors!

As we start getting closer to those cozy fall days filled with cooler mornings, crunchy leaves, pumpkins, and chilly evenings, donations like these mean so much to us. 🍁 That dog bed will give one of our sweet pups a comfortable place to curl up and rest, the dog food will help us keep plenty of hungry bellies full, and that crate is something we can absolutely put to good use here at the shelter!

🍂 THE LEAVES MAY BE FALLING, BUT OUR GRATITUDE KEEPS GROWING! 🍂

Running a shelter means there is always something we need, and every donation helps us continue providing our animals with the care, comfort, and love they deserve while they wait for their forever homes. Sometimes it’s the everyday necessities—food, beds, crates, cleaning supplies, blankets, toys, and so much more—that make the biggest difference. 🐾❤️

We are incredibly blessed to have people in our community who see a need and choose to help. Whether someone brings one item or an entire carload, we appreciate ANY and ALL donations! 🐶🐾💙 HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY! 💙🐾🐶

Today is officially NATIONAL DOG DAY, and you know we couldn’t let the day go by without celebrating all of the amazing four-legged friends who make our lives so much better! 🐾❤️ From the tiniest puppy paws to the frosty faces of our sweet seniors, today is ALL about the DOGS!

Dogs have a special way of filling our lives with unconditional love, loyalty, laughter, muddy paw prints, slobbery kisses, wagging tails, and memories we’ll never forget. 😂❤️ They don’t care what kind of day you’ve had, what you look like, or whether you remembered to fix your hair that morning. To them, you’re their whole world—and there’s nothing quite like the love of a dog.

Here at the Etowah County Animal Shelter, National Dog Day means just a little bit more to us because we get the privilege of knowing so many incredible dogs who are still waiting for someone to call their own. 🥹🐾 We see the playful pups who can’t wait to chase a toy, the shy ones who slowly learn to trust, the cuddle bugs who just want to be close, the goofy ones who keep us laughing, and the seniors who simply want a soft place to rest their heads.

🐾 TODAY, WE CELEBRATE THEM ALL! 🐾

We celebrate the shelter dogs still waiting. We celebrate the dogs who have gone into foster homes. We celebrate every pup who has walked through our doors and eventually walked back out beside their forever family. 🚨💧🐾 IMPORTANT SHELTER UPDATE — CLOSED TODAY 🐾💧🚨

Hey y’all! We wanted to give everyone an important update. Unfortunately, due to a busted water line/leak here at the shelter, we will be CLOSED TODAY while we work diligently to get everything repaired and back up and running.

We currently have equipment here and crews working, and we are doing everything we possibly can to get the problem fixed as quickly and safely as possible. 💧🛠️ We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we greatly appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we deal with this unexpected situation.

🐾❤️ PLEASE DON’T WORRY ABOUT OUR ANIMALS! Even though our doors are closed to the public today, all of our shelter animals will continue to be excellently cared for. Their care does not stop just because our doors are closed. Our staff will make sure everyone is fed, comfortable, safe, and given everything they need while the repairs are being completed.
