Our Original Book Club will meet on Thursday, July 2, at 6:00 p.m. to discuss The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon, a gripping blend of historical fiction and mystery inspired by the real journals of 18th-century midwife Martha Ballard.

As part of our "Unearth History" theme week, we'll dive into this critically acclaimed novel that has captivated readers across the country. The Frozen River was a Good Morning America Book Club Pick, a New York Times bestseller, an NPR Book of the Year, winner of the 2024 Nero Award for Best Mystery Novel, and has received multiple nominations recognizing its excellence in both historical fiction and mystery writing.

Teens ages 13–18 are invited to explore the fascinating world of radio with the Oklahoma History Center's History of Radio Traveling Trunk! Get hands-on with historic artifacts, discover how radio shaped entertainment and communication, and even create your own radio program using professional recording equipment.

Whether you're interested in broadcasting, storytelling, history, or just trying something new, this interactive experience is your chance to step behind the microphone and see what life sounded like before the digital age.

Next week is our inaugural meeting of Plot Twist, the library's mystery and thriller book club for adults. We'll be starting off the new club with a discussion of The Storm, by Rachel Hawkins. This is the perfect summer thriller set on the beach in coastal Alabama near the Florida line.

Plot Twist will meet at 6:00 p.m. on June 25. You don't need to bring anything but your love for mysteries and thrillers and a desire to talk about books with other readers. No registration is necessary.

Low-Fi Lounge is your excuse to hang out at the library, vibe in the air conditioning, and do whatever sounds fun. Craft something cool, play games, snack, listen to music, chat with friends, or just exist peacefully for an hour. ✨
