This evening, volunteer firefighters from throughout Wayne County came together to participate in a Swiftwater Rescue training course.

Personnel from Piedmont City Fire Department, Clearwater Fire Protection District, Greenville Fire & Rescue, Lowndes Fire Department, Williamsville-Black River Fire Department, Wappapello Fire Department, and Wayne County Emergency Management dedicated their time to expanding their skills and increasing their awareness of water rescue operations.

Continuous training is essential to ensuring we’re prepared for any emergency. Every class we complete adds another valuable tool to our toolbox, allowing us to better protect and serve the citizens of Wayne County when they need us most.

Thank you to everyone who made this training possible and to those who continue to invest their time in becoming better equipped to serve our communities.

Message from the City of Piedmont

Due to equipment failure at the water treatment plant. The City of Piedmont will lose water pressure and more than most likely parts of towns or all of town will lose water. Then we will be on a boil water advisory till further notice. I will repost and let everyone know as soon as we are back up and running. It will most likely be this afternoon as we are waiting on parts to get here

A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Tennessee until 11 PM CDT. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION! Strong/long-tracked tornadoes will be possible this afternoon through this evening! Have multiple ways to receive warnings and know where your safe place is in the lowest level, interior room of your home or basement!
