Chief Jim Bumbaugh is now off duty for the final time. He has been a blessing to our community and one of the best chiefs this department has had. Thank you for your dedicated service and friendship. These final radio calls for retirement are always hard but well deserved.

If you would like to wish Chief Bumbaugh a farewell, please join us on Sunday, December 7th, at the Pierceton Community Building from 3pm to 6pm.

Thank you Chief Bumbaugh and best wishes on your new journey.

Update: Betty Porter Located Safe

Kosciusko County, IN – The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department is pleased to report that 75-year-old Betty Porter, who was reported missing earlier today, has been safely located.

Mrs. Porter was last seen around 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11th, at her residence in the 3000 block of South 25 West, just south of Warsaw. After a coordinated effort by local law enforcement, fire, EMS, and community members, she was found safe and is now back with her family.

We would like to sincerely thank the public for their vigilance and assistance, as well as the many individuals and agencies that contributed to the successful outcome of this case.

No further information will be released at this time out of respect for the family’s privacy.
Missing Person Alert – Betty Porter

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating 75-year-old Betty Porter.

Betty was last seen at her residence located in the 3000 block of South 25 West, just south of Warsaw and west of County Farm Road, around 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11th. She was last seen by her husband wearing a maroon T-shirt and blue jeans.

Betty is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 135 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information regarding Betty Porter’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department immediately at 574-267-5667.

With the arrival of summer like weather and extended daylight, we want to remind residents of laws governing the operation of golf carts in Pierceton.
1. Only persons sixteen years of age or older who hold a valid driver's license can operate the golf cart.
2. The operator must be able to show proof of financial responsibility.
3. Golf carts are prohibited from being driven alongside or on US 30 or State Road 13 (First Street).
4. Golf carts operated between dusk and dawn require headlights and taillights visible from a distance no less than 500 feet.
5. The number of occupants in the cart shall be limited to the number of seats available and all passengers must be seated at all times.
6. The golf cart must display a “slow moving vehicle” sign on the rear of the cart.
7. UTVs/ATVs are not allowed on the streets at any time.
