A Blizzard Warning is in effect through 6pm Monday. The heaviest snow will coincide with the strongest winds Sunday evening into early Monday. Expect heavy blowing snow, visibilities below 1/4 mile, treacherous travel conditions, and sporadic power outages. High tide Monday around 3 AM is forecast from 3.8 to 4.6 feet NAVD88. Above 4 feet we typically see flooding conditions on Paradise, Lot D, Ohio & Ladik, and the River lot. If you park in those areas, you may use lot S by the tennis courts to park for this evening. Please be aware that lot S may not immediately be cleared, but will be safe from flooding.

Our new snowfall totals are between 16 to 24 inches. A state of emergency has been declared by Rockland County, and all cars should be off the road by 6PM tonight to allow crews to perform snow removal, emergency repairs to power, and emergency response to incidents. Garbage collection will be rescheduled from Monday, 2/23 to Tuesday, 2/24 to prioritize snow removal and cleanup on Monday. Please keep your vehicles off the road to facilitate snow removal Sunday and Monday.
Stay home, stay warm, and stay safe.

High Tide Thursday, 10/30 around 6PM may exceed 4 FT NAVD88, and the forecast calls for steady rainfall most of the day and evening, which may result in stormwater backup flooding in low lying areas. Winds from the East above 15 MPH may drive waves onshore in locations with easterly exposure to the river. Impacted areas may include the River lot, Lot D, Paradise Ave, Bridge, Ohio, and Ladik Streets. Waters should recede by 9PM.

Next 3 tides elevated - overnight parking restrictions lifted tonight, 10/12

Due to the incoming noreaster, our next three tides will be elevated. The track has shifted slightly, and this afternoon's tide is now forecast at 3.8-4.2 feet NAVD88, lower than the forecast from yesterday, but still high enough to expect flooding conditions on Paradise ave, lot D, and Bridge st. Depending on rainfall amounts and timing, the River lot, Ohio, and Ladick streets may also see flooding due to stormwater backup around 3PM. The overnight tide around 3AM is now forecast at 4.2-5 feet, and tomorrow's afternoon tide at 4.6-5.5 feet. Above 5 feet, Ferdon and South Piermont ave become impassable by car, as can Piermont ave in the area of bay street. Winds from the northeast will push waves with additional elevation in areas with easterly exposure to the river, and may bring down trees and cause a loss of power. Rainfall amounts of up to 2 inches are expected during this time. Overnight parking restriction have been lifted, if you park in these areas, please move your car to high ground.

10/11/2025

Current forecast tides for Sunday afternoon, overnight Sunday into Monday, and Monday afternoon show elevation above 4 feet NAVD88, with maximum possible elevation of 5.8 feet around 3 AM Monday morning. These elevations will occur in the context of periods of rain that may add up to several inches, and will be accompanied by 25+MPH northeasterly winds. These conditions will push waves along the shoreline in areas exposed to the river, and may bring down trees and cause a loss of power. Flooding conditions are expected to begin around 3PM Sunday afternoon, and return with each high tide through Monday evening. Above 4 feet, we typically see flooding in lot D, the River lot, Paradise ave, Bridge, Ohio and Ladik streets. Above 5 feet, Ferdon and South Piermont ave become impassable by car, as can Piermont ave in the area of Bay street. The forecast may change if the storm changes track, and we will continue to monitor and provide an additional update and N2N notice Sunday AM. If you live in these areas, today is a good day to check your sump pumps and make any necessary preparations.

Radar forecast for 4PM 6/30-
The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded our entire area to an Enhanced Risk based on increased confidence in damaging winds. The highest probability for severe thunderstorms is from 2pm to 10pm. The main threat is from damaging wind gusts up to of 70 mph. Hail and an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Tornados and casualties have been reported with this storm system to our west. Any thunderstorm may produce frequent cloud-to-ground lightning. All these factors mean it is likely we will experience a loss of power, and crews may not be able to respond immediately for repairs.
Damaging winds and tornados are a dangerous situation where you should seek shelter inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows. You should prepare for a power loss by charging up your phone and assembling any essential items you require if you need to evacuate, and monitor emergency warnings as they are issued.
If you lose power, don't assume the utility is aware, notify them one of these 4 ways:

*Text messaging by texting “OUT” to 69678 (myORU) or
*Call 1-877-434-4100.
In the event of a loss of power, our Firehouse emergency shelter will be activated and available for those residents with critical medical needs for power, and anyone whose residence is damaged and unsafe.

04/11/2024

Overnight high tide around 2:30 AM Friday, 4/12 is forecast from 4.1 to 4.6 feet NAVD88.

Rainfall accumulations of 1 to 2 inches, with periods of heavy rain and sustained winds from the SE of 10-20 gusting to 40 MPH are forecast overnight Thursday into Friday morning. Heavy rainfall may create flooding conditions on our hillsides, and winds and saturated ground may bring down trees and lead to a loss of power during this time. Wind driven waves may add a foot or more of elevation in areas with eastern exposure to the river during high tide.

Flooding conditions are expected in low-lying areas overnight Thursday into Friday. Depending on rainfall amounts, tidal flooding could be exacerbated by stormwater runoff Friday morning. Above 4 foot NAVD88 we typically see flooding in Lot D, the River lot, on Paradise ave, Ohio, Ladik, and Bridge streets. Overnight parking restrictions have been lifted tonight. If you park in these areas, please move your car to higher ground.
